The Knights mounted, one by one, with the help of the man who handed up their shields, lances and broad swords. All of the Knights wore their brightly colored tunics from their Kingdoms and their shields were emblazoned WIth each Knights family crest. Quite colorful.
The man mounted his own horse, and indicated that they should follow. The landing site was very large and as the Knights had never before seen concrete, were fascinated at the sharp, clicking, sound of the horses hooves striking such a hard surface.
The two moons gave ample light, almost like dusk, on Earth and they had no trouble staying in the battle square that they had formed, with 15 meters between riders.
They reached the edge of the landing site and started down a dirt road that led to the palace.
Suddenly, they were under attack. Arrows were coming at them from all directions, they raised their shields and tightened up their battle square.
An arrow hit Sir JonPop's shield and did not penetrate, he looked around and saw that the arrows were only slightly penetrating the shields of his comrades and were falling harmlessly to the ground. He gave a silent prayer to Sir Merlin and thought, "This 'substance' really works."
Sir Stillwantmore watched in disbelief as an arrow that had struck his horse in the flank, slowly backed it's self out and fell to the ground with no trace of a wound. Other than a sleight shudder of his horse, Sir Stillwantmore would probably not have noticed.
The arrows ceased and mounted men with shields raised and lances lowered, were charging the Knights, they turned to meet the enemy.
