The Knights stood in a line in the center of the arena, dressed in their armor and shields at their sides. Their broadswords crossed over their breastplate. They looked at the 200 or so young men before them, that wanted to be Knights. The young men were in total awe of such splendor and were talking loudly amongst themselves.

Sir JonPop stepped forward and with a sweeping gesture of his gauntleted hand, said, "These fearless Knights are what you will become, if you have the courage, and the will to do as you are told. This will not be easy, nor will it be fun. We are here to instruct you in the ways of Knighthood, how to kill your opponent and not to die. You have been been divided into groups of 25 or so and each group has been assigned to a Knight from Earth. At any one time, half of this group will be here in the arena learning to fight and the other half will be in the classroom where you will learn to outwit your opponent."

He said in a very loud voice so even those in the back could hear;

"This is the law:
The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is Supplemental."
