Hey Redwood, the reason I advised starting with 1,000mg is;
This is an individual thing, take as much as your body will tolorate. I started out with 2 500mg capsules and tolorated this well. I then went to the bulk powder and now take about 3000mg, (about a heaping 1/4 tsp. full) in the morning in a glass of orange juice. Anymore than this and I tend to get the runs. Experment with the dosage and back off if you start getting the shits. This is best taken on an empty stomach, wait a 1/2 hour and then eat.
When you first start taking L-Argnine or L-Lysine, at higher doses it can have a laxative effect until your system adjusts. I take probably 3,000mg L-Argine and 1,000mg of L-Lysine daily, now. But I found out the hard way, you don't jump into this with large doses.
