good question - I like to edge for 15 minutes - a.k.a. approach the PONR several times and KEGEL - this will stretch those cavernosa's all the way down to the bottom of the inner penis.
Another option is to simply hold that hot washcloth around your whole unit, balls and all, all the way down to your taint.
Also Kegels help bring blood to the area while you are heating up
