Default Lysine and Arginine

Hey all, so I was reading on here that two of the most suggested supplements to take during the course of pe are arginine and lysine. Now my question.

Don't lysine and arginine have a negative relationship with one another? I came across this when reading about cold sores and the herpes virus. Some patients took lysine supplements in high amounts (about 1200 mg/day) to discourage arginine levels necessary for viral replication.

An extract:
In studying the relationship of lysine and herpes, researchers have found that in order to replicate, the herpes virus needs arginine, another common amino acid. Arginine is found in such foods as peanuts, chocolate, almonds, seeds, grains, gelatin and raisins. Lysine competes with arginine for absorption and entry of tissue cells. When lysine is present, it prevents the growth of HSV by depleting the strength of arginine.

Taken from:

I'm hoping someone can clear this up. I can see the benefits of taking either lysine or arginine individually but together, there seems to be a problem. Hmm

I found this product -> Bodybuilding.com - Ultimate Nutrition Arginine/Ornithine/Lysine - Building & Toning Muscles! On sale now!

Ill quote the warning tag
"Warnings: This supplement should be avoided by persons with glaucoma or herpes simplex unless otherwise prescribed by a physician. Do not use if you have had a myocardial infarction or have established coronary artery disease."

Hey, nice find! We may be on to something. That supplement or whatever probably throws lysine arginine levels out of whack. This would probably cause the virus to replicate faster or something.

Today I took a look at my whey protein drink and it seems that it has portions of both lysine and arginine. hmm. It does work wonders in combination with pe I must say.

Another note: If you experience cold sores (I do) its herpes simplex 1 and I hypothesize what the warning label is referring to is herpes simplex 2 (genital herpes). I mean about 90% of the population has experienced them what kind of product would that be if it was only marketable to the 10%.
