I never liked v jelqs so I never did them but I think I saw somewhere 3 strokes is 1 rep or something, check out the last few pages of the jp90 routine, pretty sure I saw it there.

My advice: do it laying on the bed. It's a lot easier to do them and also much more comfortable.I know it's confusing. Here's it is in it's most straightforward terms:
Right hand up
Left hand up
Right hand up-right
(end rep 1)
Left hand up
Right hand up
Left hand up-left
(end rep 2)
See how you always go up, up, up-side; and you always alternate hands. It's a very simple rhythm once you do it. At first it seemed so confusing, I only did upwards reps. Then I decided "hey, it's not that tough - just try it." And sure enough, it's very doable.
