I haven't tried this yet but if you paid paypal through a visa card then maybe you could try chargeback.
That only works if there's a legitimate reason for the chargeback, so it doesn't work on it's own. If you send a payment as a gift or donation, there's a very good chance that you will not be refunded by PayPal, Visa, or your bank.

Don't rely on what a card can supposedly do, because unless it's an AmEx, they'll find any reason to not give you money back.

Chargeback is basically a program that every card already has, they're just not selling it as a special feature to attract more customers. You're going to be 100% protected when it actually comes to fraud, theft, account errors, etc, but PayPal makes it a tricky situation because of the different payment options. There lies the issue of how can sending money as a gift or donation be considered fraud and worthy of a chargeback unless you have PayPal confirming that your account was used by someone other than you.

There's a lot of checks in the programs, otherwise people would be able to actually buy/order and receive items, then call up their card provider and claim it's fraud and get their money back.

Thanks for enlightening me on chargeback. So at least it kind of protects me (especially when i'm not buying off ebay).

Iced, He did the same thing to me back in January and I fell for it too.

Yeah we be stupid .... (but never again, huh?) .. lesson learned.

Thanks guys for the heads up, and yea I've contacted paypal. They basically said: "You selected gift, it's your bad." I might try pushing a bit more to see what they have to say.

He gave me this bogus story of it getting caught in the mail.

Here is the info I know on him:

His name is (Personal information deleted.)

Mod's please excuse this if it's against policy, or if you need me to I'll remove this.

Demone, yea I think I'll file a complaint with the IC3, I didn't know you could do that.

And yea... finding you need to be very astute about how you send money or do anything over the internet. fool me once.

    Thanks again fellas.

Woahhhhh, this is all a little crazy out of the blue! I don't know who has been on my account but I havn't sent any of the pm's in my outbox. From what I have gathered, my account has been hijacked to solicit illegal drugs whom Icedcool and Jstars attempted to purchase and have shipped in the mail? Sounds like some shady business if you ask me but my password has been changed so hopefully there will be no more fraudulent activity to speak of! Mods, I would appreciate if you could do something about this previous posters slander made against my name. I can't help that I have been the victim chosen to help aid these fallacies but I would hate to have to turn this into a legal issue out of concern for the ones who seemed to have already experienced unfortunate circumstances...

There is no evidence to suggest that your account was used by anyone other than yourself. Your account has only been accessed by 4 IP addresses, all of which have been posted from by you in a way that lines up with your normal posting, as few as that may be. The email they were told to send money to is also the account you have linked to your profile and that you registered on this website with.

    Your account wasn't hacked.
No one but you has used your account.
    There is no slander.

While we discuss what should be done, it's probably in your best interest to refund these people their money and come clean before you catch yourself in an even bigger mess. Arguing with me saying I'm wrong wont work either, because I can back up everything I've said here with proof.
