Good day Forum... I have been slowly working my way up to higher doses of vitamin D a day. Month before last 5,000 IU's of vitamin D a day. Last month 10,000 IU's a day and now 15,000 IU's a day...

My question is i have read that too much vitamin D a day can cause calcium build up in the blood and causing bone loss from calcium depletion. From what i have read taking vitamin K & A are to be taken while taking vitamin D to counter act those types of things from happening...

After bumping my vitamin D up to 15,000 IU's a day.... I feel good each day i take it..... Energy is better.... And i am able to do more mentally and physically. I dont feel overdosed......

    Advise would be greatly appreciated.

You should definitely not take such big doses daily without getting your levels tested first.

Fifteen minutes of sunshine should supply all the daily dosage of vitamin d needed for balance.

Some "experts" claim 50,000 I U's a week is the ideal level. I dunno.

You can have your levels checked. Mine were low (I think 32 something or other) and my Dr had me on 50,000 a day for a week. It didn't do too much to my levels.

Look at the pill and see how much I.U. has one pil.
    I take 2.000 I.U. daily.

Normal D vitamin dosage in blood for health male is: 55ng/ml

ok, I will start: I have almost not been in the sun for twenty years. Not only by choice (where I have lived for the last yeas it has been terrible summers), but also by choice, as I never found it suitable to be out during daytime. For the longest time - for about fifteen years - I have known that I have very low vitamin-D levels. Increasingly lower. I don't know whether the measuring is the same internationally, but in my country the levels within the normal is considered between 50-150 (or 200?). Last time I measured (approximately 7 years ago), I had the very low level of 4. I think the doctor had never seen such low levels. And yes, I should probably be more out during daytime and exploit my skin to the sun, but I guess I am a nocturnal person. Also that I am intolerant toward a lot of food substances; for instance I can't eat any food product which is added vitamin-D. Nor do I tolerate cod liver oil.

So with my very low levels for so many years, how many ie a day of vitamin-D3 do you recommend me to eat? Also vitamin-K is important for the uptake I understand. What about calcium (and eventual magnesium) for the uptake? And someone mentioned vitamin-A above. If so, is it enough with a multivitamin a day?

    Thanks.
