Default Jelq Grip Style

Most of the videos and pics demonstrating jelq show the palm facing toward the body.

But this style of grip makes it a little more difficult to reach as far close to the pubic bone as possible.

Gripping with the palm facing out seems to be a better bet. Any opinions?

I'm also wondering about the uniformity of pressure. If you make an OK sign with one hand and then trace the inside of the circle it forms with your other index finger you will feel a definite soft spot at the point where your thumb and index join your hand.

Alternating hands may help to vary the pressure, but I'm wondering if any of you ever vary the angle of your grip to get a uniform level of pressure around the surface area of the penis. Or is it more important to target the sides of the penis (corpora cavernosum).

Should the hard surfaces of the grip be situated so that they focus on specific areas of the penis with the soft portion of the grip on a neutral or less important area?

This might preclude the idea of a palm out grip being better especially if targetting the top and sides of the penis is more effective technique.

Hope this is all making sense.

Thanks,
Rod

I use an ok grip but without the thumb and forefinger touching, in order to get equal pressure. Any opinions on that?

Rod: Great questions.

Hands facing out is a better bet for gripping as close to the base as possible, but it tends to get uncomfortable after a while. The best bet might be to jelq with palms facing out until you feel uncomfortable, and then switch back to the normal way (continually rotating).

By "angling your grip" do you mean vary where the index and the thumb join in relation to the penis (i.e. 6 o'clock for a while, then switch to 3 o'clock)? If so, sometimes. I tend to just make sure I jelq with equal pressure on all sides to avoid getting a curve. I also vary the angles I jelq (up, down, right, down and to the right, etc)

Perhaps. As far as I know, no one ever advocated it. Where are you suggesting that the "hard surfaces" go?

No opinion from me. I guess I'm having a hard time visualizing how that would work.

I mainly was interested in whether a soft spot in the jelq technique could make it less effecient. It looks like there are simple ways to vary the grip so that the penis is getting a good over all work out.

Thanks, Remek.

Yes, by "angling your grip" that is exactly what I meant. I was struggling to make myself clear on that.

As far as by thoughts on placing the hard surfaces, I guess I don't have a theory. I just wondered if it was something anyone had thought about or if it would be significant. It seems that varying the attack and going for a good overall even workout of the penis is the best approach.

I like to use the ok grip. However, I typically do about 500 jelqs/session. I usually will do a standard jelq through the first 100 to get the blood flowing. After that I like to do switch it up a bit by doing different variations to keep it guessing. I like to combine the squeeze with my jelqs. If you try this you need to be very patient and careful that you apply just the right amount of pressure. This is an exercise for those who have been PEing for at least 3 months.
1. Gain an erection to about 90% or so. Then use a tight squeeze grip at the base of the penis. This will trap blood in the penis. Now apply a light to moderate OK grip just above the squeeze grip and slowly jelq up towards the head. Do this about 15 times... should take about 2 minutes.
2. Now for the next 15 jelqs- follow your light/moderate OK grip with the heavy squeeze grip right behind it forcing more blood up towards the head. This can be very intense but I have found that it maximizes the affects of the jelq. After this set of 15 go back to a standard jelq for the next 100 and repeat the same process. This will add intensity to your jelqing sessions and should help add to your gains.

Okay, so I'm a neophyte, and everytime I jelq I keep discovering variations that are interesting.

I'm wondering if any of these things have ever been found effective:

a. Jelqing with both hands simultaneously - the penis is effectively pinched between the finger tips of each hand, so the pressure is concentrated on the sides.

b. Again using both hands, but applying pressure to the top and bottom by laying the index and middle fingers perpendicular to the penis. This has a flattening effect. Pancaking? I read somewhere about somebody who actually used a rolling pin and a table top.

I don't spend a lot of time on this while I'm jelqing, but they did seem to offer a pleasant variation and do things that they basic jelq wasn't quite able to do. I'm also VERY gentle with everything especially because I'm just beginning.

I started jelqing with my palm facing my body, but after a while realized I was missing the first 2" at least of the base of my penis when jelqing this way. Also it always felt awkward. Problem solved when I switched it to palm out, or fingers toward the ground for better visualization. Also, it's my belief that jelqing this way is healthier in the long run due to nerves that run along the top of the penis....your hard, bony thumb/forefinger should not be dragging along those.
