I have a question/concern. I see here on the site we hve that post by Jon about the L-Arginine and how it helps build muscle. But this is the thing, while searching on info about it wikipedia came up and these are just two paragraphs, and there right after the other as well. Growth hormone
Arginine increases the production of
growth hormone.
[9] Reports of its effects on male muscular development are not clearly proven.
[edit] Prolactin
Although there haven't been thorough studies, some sources claim that arginine helps release
prolactin, an estrogenic compound which is associated with lactation, and like all estrogenic compounds may curb the secretion of testosterone[
citation needed]. Thus some bodybuilders stay away from pure arginine, intaking only amounts naturally found in protein
Now I do see that it states this as well Function
Arginine plays an important role in cell division, the healing of wounds, removing ammonia from the body, immune function, and the release of hormones. Arginine, taken in combination with
proanthocyanidins[4] or
yohimbine[5], has also been used as a treatment for
erectile dysfunction.
So I see that it does help in the "heaing of wounds" which I guess helps our PE but wouldn't it be negative towards our PE in other senses? Like JonPop says in his post that it helps reduce body fat while increasing muscle. This doesn't seem to be the case for the prolactin. And yes I know that it says it hasn't been thoroughly studied but then I would like to read his sources over wikipedia truthfully. It's all weird cause here at the PEgym people seem to give a lot of credit to L-Arginine but a lot of these sites say what I posted, I just chose wikipedia is a more prominant resource. And I was thinking of taking L-Arginine as a total but now am tryin to figure this out. -workinit
