I noticed something very interesting the other day. If you get the chance, check out the WikiPedia entry for "penis enlargement" here: Penis enlargement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not more than a few months ago, the information listed there for nonsurgical PE was pretty negative and actual data was scant. While I don't have any records of very recent screenshots, this archive from 22 OCT 2007 shows a great shift in opinion and general attitude change towards PE (in a more positive manner) from WikiPedia. They've even listed some of the studies we've linked to on this forum

    (Same Source)
    Hanging
"Hanging is perhaps the oldest self-applied method of penis enlargement, with evidence suggesting it was practiced by certain African tribes as much as 2,000 years ago. Weight hanging consists of attaching a device (usually a rope or a strap) that grips the glans or just behind the glans and allows a weight to be suspended for a specific amount of time. Then a conscious effort is made to exercise the penis by raising the weight in repetitions (lasting no more than 5 to 10 minutes at a time) starting with the smallest and lightest weight 1/16 pound to the heaviest usually 1/4 pound or more, to increase the strength and stamina as well as elongation of the penis.
Weight hanging, however, can also carry serious risks, which include nerve damage, chronic pain, scarring and impotence. The potential for these risks is dramatically increased if the patient is not directly trained by a qualified certified therapist. The idea behind weight hanging is to stretch the tunica albuginea and other various tissues of the penis. The general effect is to elongate the penis, although widening can also occur, commonly at the base of the penis.
Hanging carries additional health risks due to the restriction of blood flow to the glans, including possible erectile dysfunction. Many tribal practitioners of weight hanging are impotent[citation needed], although urination is unaffected."

What's funny is that the information is a bit off. Chronic pain? Really... I've had the better part of a year in terms of hanging experience, there's no pain like that whatsoever. Then again, whoever wrote that probably knows very little about hanging & most likely they have never tried it either

I do find it interesting that their views have become more positive. I think the grassroots growth of the PE community & what little evidence actually is posted on forums like this is probably slowly being noticed.

Their view on "stretching" is a complete 180 degree change for sure. I noticed that their initial view on extenders was very pessimistic. I suppose the clinical studies on extenders cannot be ignored & they do mention some of the studies in the updated version under "stretching". It's unfortunate that the manual methods of PE probably wont get as much recognition even though they are very effective (due to lack of profit incentive, I suppose we can't expect clinical studies on it).

I agree, but compare the difference with this excerpt on hanging from the older archive:

    Hanging

    A huge difference

They did add the feature on clamping- that truly surprised me. The more people learn about PE and refute the older outdated notions about it, the more these mainstream information sources are going to have to listen to avoid appearing behind the times. As more details get accepted, more data on the effectiveness of various manual exercises are bound to be posted.

It's interesting to see this clear trend towards at least reduced skepticism. That old version of the post was only from 2007--not long before I started PE. Just during that time their attitude towards PE has had quite a dramatic change.
