So I just purchased "Without Embarrassment" by Michael Pilinski and "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Dr. Robert A. Glover.

Wow is all I have to say, I'm only a couple chapters in to both books but holy shit it's already giving me insights about myself and how naive I've been. I purchased these books because they approach the same topic from different angles yet seem compatible.

Needless to say I recommend them to everyone on here, as I feel it's going to help me a lot.

Exactly what PEskeptic said CUSP. Though it isn't a dialogue about become a "jerk" or an archetype "asshole", it's more about abandoning the notion that you have to be what you think other people perceive as "good" - generally resulting in a Nice Guy Syndrome. What the author outlines as a Nice Guy Syndrome is very similar to what Adam Sandler was doing in the movie Anger Management.

Yeah, but at the same time you don't want to go looking for trouble. There is a fine line between not taking shit from anybody (which you never should) and actually starting the shit.

The Author also makes a really compelling point about how the last few generations of men have been more detached from what it means to be a man because of the greater influence by women about what masculinity is.

A really good quote is.. "Many Nice Guys have adopted a female perspective of masculinity and are comfortable having their manhood defined by women." It's not anti-women in anyway, it just simply outlines that the ideas about masculinity for the modern man have been shaped more heavily by women than by men, thus the Nice Guy falls into a pattern of seeking approval from women to validate "their" sense of masculinity.

I liked the book 'I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell'. It was very entertaining and hilarious.

I made a thread about "Without Embarrassment" and ended up disliking the book amongst other similar books.
