Just wondering if any other members are job hunting? Over the past 3 months its been a very humbling experience. One of the most important things I've learn to do is to ask anyone you know if they know of any job openings. Add your advice and lets keep our heads up !!!!

Well, I'm pretty secure in my job BUT, I was there once and yes, it is a very humbling experience. No matter how frustrated you're likely to get, never give up. At some point something will work out for you. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it's imperative to make yourself stand out from the rest of the candidates. From how you come across to your resume, some way, some how, stand out. I realize this is easier said than done but because of how competitive and challenging the job market has become, it's become a matter of survival.

One of the things I've learned is if you're only applying Still shave, and have on a nice polo. I see a lot of people who need a makeover.

My experience is stage 1 is usually online, stage 2 with a labour hire company and to actually get to apply direct to an employer a victory in itself.

Well there's the conundrum for people like myself trying to get a job, yet have no job experience; therefore making it difficult to get most jobs..

I'm looking for a job. I have one working nights on weekends, but it won't be enough to pay the bills. I'm working 13.5 hours... so I have a big slot to fill.

Here are my steps to finding a job:
internet- I send a bunch of emails to potential employers and filter out the bad ones.
Go in person- it looks really good on you and puts a face to the name on the resume. What I do is ask to speak to the manager right away and then talk about the job and why you're excited to work there.
Find job-placement agencies- there are companies out there who get payed to find you a job. Everybody wins here. take advantage.

My experience is fronting up can cause issues, you can be regarded as a security risk . In any case at best you get refered to a website or labour hire company. So while I do this I am carefull with it.

Fronting up, as in approaching the manager? What do you do/say to make it seem like a security risk?

Yeah it seems as if I'm running into that. Or that I'm "overqualified"

The two I know of are Mega-Force & Man-Power. I haven't dealt with them in over a decade. Used to be very harsh to the Workers.
