And instead of hearing how bad you are, how bad of a job you did/do. You come to work and a co-worker says your doing a fine job your good at what you do. What if that were to happen all over the world. You tell your wife she is pretty. Your wife tells you your handsome. Instead of hearing constantly how much of a dismal failure you are. You all of a sudden heard your doing a fine job!

I started something at work a few days ago. I told the buss boy he is doinga fine job. He is likely the most inconsistant buss boy at the job site. but if im going to beleive something then i must practice it. I told the Sue chef that he is the best sue chef this side of that side. They both were alarmed at this, it was unexpected.

We hear bombardments of negative shit all day. All you have to do is watch the news for an hour and they repeat the same negative shit over and over again like a broken record. Faith comes by hearing. What are you telling? Are you telling your child he/she is a dismal failure and will never amoun to anything?

What do you have faith in? What words have you heard or said that may help shape someones life in ta positive right way. The seeds are planted in us from an early age from a parent or an adult with little understanding. They title you the title sticks you become what they prophosyed over you. You heard and you believed the word "I am a loser so and so said i was."

Then these same people turn around and expect you to do a good job! To be a success in your life and accomplish all that you need to. Well the fuel has been withheld from you. how can you make it in this world. So then you have to do positive self talk tell you believe it. Tell it becomes a fact tell it becomes reality. Keep in mind though humans are far from perfect and you will fuck up! but this does not mean you are a perpetual fuck up!

I would like to see just one perfectionist not fuck up.

I agree with you. People lose their motivation to move forward when its been taken from them. At least an adult can dismiss comments like these, but children get scarred. Giving somebody a little positive comment at the right time can change a lot.

Have noted that over the last year or two, civility and kind words have lost ground to harsh words and manipulation for money and power. Sign of national hard times. Only I, we and you can make it different. Choose kindness, manors and civility. Expose people that use manipulation and harsh words to demand what they do not deserve or have no right to request.
Heres an example. Just had a guy walk up to my service counter (I process job orders) and request a service he needs. Then stated he wanted it to be free. Looking at him, he has a lawn maintenance shirt on. I asked "Do you cut grass for free?". "Well, No I do not". Then why should I work for free? No answer. "I just need it and I want it free". I do not know you, never seen you in the past, you have never been in any of my client lists and now you walk in and demand free services. How can the man working on this job order get paid if you want it free? Answer, "You pay him." I'am thinking "No way". He demands payment for his services and demands free services from me? How does this work?

Result, He left to get money to actually pay for what he wants. In the past experience shows he will not be back.

Has our great nation come to this?

I couldn't agree more with any of this. Somewhat related, I had recently applied for an internal position within the courthouse that I work at. The title of this position is Senior Court Collections Officer. The main requirements for this position state that I must have a high school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of increasingly responsible collections/credit experience.

OK, I have a 4 year college degree. I also spent 7 years working in collections and credit through my employment with Chrysler. Now, you'd think I'd be a shoe in to be at least considered a suitable candidate? No. They through my application out as they claimed I didn't have the experience necessary. How could this be? So, I did something I had never done before..........I called them out on it. I sent the HR lady an email directly asking her what experience was it that I lacked to be disqualified for this position? What I got was a "schooling" on making sure that I'm qualified for the job for which I'm applying, hereby making me feel like I'm a complete idiot just randomly applying for jobs. Then, I get told that I only have 6 months of collections experience, when I have 7 years' worth. I pointed this out to this woman and did no good.

So, I emailed her back later in the afternoon and I told her I wanted my application reconsidered and I stated my reasons why. I meet every qualification this position requires and then some! She is supposed to get back to me today but in her response email, she emphasized the need for a high school diploma AND the 2 years' worth of increasingly responsible credit/collections experience. Gee, I think a 4 year degree beats out a high school diploma and my 7 years of credit/collections experience should count for something?

I bring this up because I have a supervisor who's NEVER been a supervisor ever in her life and all of a sudden, she's in charge of 6 people and has the worst people skills of anyone supervisor I have personally ever had in the 20 years I've been in the labor force. I don't get it.

Where i work I have two new managers,with no people skills. I call one the Evil warlordess, and the other unwilling henchman,because He does whatever she asks usually command even if it totally wrong A lot of times things are not thought through,and other people pay for it.

It seems i get blamed for not doing other peoples jobs. When i neglect to do their jobs due to either just giving up or the fact that it detours me away from my job i usually get the fall out.

My niece was turned down for a bank teller jon, part time albeit because she has a bad credit score. what the hell is this stupid country coming to!

I don't dislike my boss BUT, I don't really dig her either. She's totally inexperienced and it shows every day how poorly fit for a supervisory role she is. For instance, today, several people went to some training class and me and a few others were left hangin' around. One of the girls that left for the morning performs a job function that I have been cross trained on and that I know how to do............and it's a critical job function because other people cannot do their jobs unless this person's job is done........sort of a domino effect. Anyway, my boss did not ask me to do her job and I didn't offer, KNOWING that her job wouldn't be getting done. I figure I'm not a supervisor and if this chick isn't bright enough to figure out the importance of this job getting done and making sure there is adequate coverage for this job to get done, that isn't my problem.

At lunch, one of my old bosses that I TOTALLY LOVED because she's smart, knows her stuff and she IS someone to be respected because she earned the title as a supervisor, came up to me on my lunch hour and whispered in my ear "did you know your boss didn't have anyone prep while so and so was out at training class". Of course I knew it and I said I did. I also stated that I'm not a supervisor and while I did send the brainless wonder a clue that this person's job wasn't getting done, she didn't see get my clue and I wasn't going to point it out to her. Besides, I figure since I'm just a lowly Office Assistant, far be it from me to tell a supervisor how to be a supervisor. In any event, when the person who's job it was came back after lunch and discovered how much of her work didn't get done because a certain supervisor didn't have a clue, holy hell, was she PISSED!

As for the job I applied for, HR now wants me to recount my time with my former employer and tell them all about my collections and credit experience AND they want copies of my college transcripts to verify my classes taken and my 4 year degree.........keep in mind this job only requires a fuckin' high school diploma!
