Very nice article. I used to suffer from this "syndrome" for years and my love life changed tremendously once I took the necessary steps to accomplish the main changes that are described in the article. There's TONS of info out there (books, websites, forums, etc) for those that could use some much needed advice in order to get their "game" working properly.

I had this issue too with my current girlfriend, I was nothing but nice and she was never interested. It was only until she got messed around by one of these "bad boys" it talks about that she turned around and realised that I'd cared about her for such a long time.

To be honest I still stuffer from nice guy syndrome, but I don't plan on changing!

Here's some opinions/theories- some women that have deep seated self esteem issues are attracted to men that treat them like dirt because that's how they view themselves. If a guy comes along and treats her nice, she looks down on that guy because, since she sees herself as having low worth, then anyone that puts her on a pedestal must be even lower than her.

There's also the "disinterested" factor- common amongst beautiful women. Some beautiful women are used to either two things- having men fawn all over them or having men say cruel things to them in response to being spurned. Rare is the guy that comes across as "indifferent", and since these women aren't accustomed to this they find it very attractive.

That being said, I'm not a fan of changing your personality to attract women. The "true you" will eventually come out, or you'll have to continue to pretend to be something else in order to retain her. This is sure to make you unhappy at some point, and it's unfair to her since you're essentially being deceptive.

I related SO well to this article. The old me was the proverbial "nice guy" who was always seen as the friend that his buddy's girl friends would go to when my buddy treated his girl like shit. Not anymore. And actually, I owe a large part of who I am, my confidence level and my "nice guy with an edge" mentality to W.M.P. He took me under his wing some time ago and sort of helped mold me into who I am now...............don't get me wrong, the ingredients were always there, I just needed some fine tuning that my brotha from anotha motha helped me with. Now, I'm a very confident dude with tons of exciting things going on in his life who doesn't need to spend every waking moment of his life with his girl. I love spending time with her but if our day finds us going in different directions, it's not a big deal at all.

In fact, when I started going out with my girl, the initial idea was that we'd be friends with benefits. And to start off, we were. I had every intention of keeping Renee as a friend and just hookin' up with her for sex and just someone to hang out with and do stuff with. Things just sort of evolved into the fully committed relationship we've got now and the sex.............OH MY GOD the sex! It's incredible. She and I totally connect when we're in the act of making love...........there are times where it's making love and there are times when it's downright dirty, porn sex.

I will say, if I ever found myself free to date who I wanted again, I'd be a TOTALLY different guy............the "nice guy with an edge".
