    Alright guys -

this is my chance to give back to the community. I am a graduate student researcher in a prominent, prestigious university with a specific concentration in metabolism (primarily focusing in on carbohydrate metabolism and type II diabetes). I am also a certified personal trainer (NSCA-cpt) and my BS is in Kinesiology as well. Don't really know why I'm sharing that all with you...

I am NOT a practicing MD / Physician. I cannot PRESCRIBE anything. I can HELP with your programs. I am NOT an RD (Registered Dietitian). I cannot prescribe a diet.

I CAN make recommendations and field questions to the best of my abilities. Unfortunately, a lot of information out there is skewed, biased or complete and total bunk. A lot of it isn't even common knowledge unfortunately. I know there are a lot of educated minds on these boards and I ALWAYS welcome others incite, educated backgrounds, and experiences. Unfortunately I am performing a new Lit Review for my next study ... so my time is limited to provide lengthy, educated responses as often as I'd like... so please, bear with me.

I reserve the right to refuse to respond to questions I do not feel appropriate. If I cannot respond adequately and appropriately, I will inform you of such and ATTEMPT to lead you to resources that can help you.

I do hope this offer/this thread does not get out of hand. I respectfully request (if this works) that you ask one question... so that I may respond to others.

And again, I know there are MANY educated minds on these boards.. I am nothing short of happy for them to respond and provide knowledge and feedback to those who specialize in OTHER areas.

    Thanks guys

    -BB

For anyone who supplements with AAKG. This was forwarded to me by my advisor.

    Hum Exp Toxicol. 28(5):259-62, 2009.
Adverse effects associated with arginine alpha-ketoglutarate containing
    supplements.
Prosser JM, Majlesi N, Chan GM, Olsen D, Hoffman RS, Nelson LS.

Department of Emergency Medicine and Division of Toxicology, New York City
Poison Center, New York University School of Medicine, New York, New York
    10016, USA.

The athletic performance supplement industry is a multibillion-dollar
business and one popular category claims to increase nitric oxide (NO)
production. We report three patients presenting to the emergency department
with adverse effects. A 33-year-old man presented with palpitations,
dizziness, vomiting, and syncope, after the use of NO(2) platinum. His
examination and electrocardiogram (ECG) were normal. The dizziness
persisted, requiring admission overnight. A 21-year-old man with
palpitations and near syncope had used a "nitric oxide" supplement. He was
tachycardic to 115 bpm with otherwise normal examination. Laboratory values
including methemoglobin, and ECG were unremarkable. He was treated with 1 L
of saline with no change in heart rate. He was admitted for observation. A
24-year-old man presented after taking NO-Xplode with palpitations and a
headache. His examination, laboratory values, and ECG were normal. He was
discharged. The purported active ingredient in these products is arginine
alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG), which is claimed to increase NO production by
    supplying the precursor L-arginine.
The symptoms could be due to
vasodilation from increased levels of NO, though other etiologies cannot be
    excluded.
AAKG containing supplements may be associated with adverse effects
    requiring hospital admission.

AAKG lowers blood pressure, When the blood pressure is to low sometimes the heart may beat faster to compansate. None of these supplements should be takin with caffiene. More does not mean it will work better. I wonder how much AAKG these guys took in order for thid to happen.

I have to take AAKG to help lower blood sugar, this to must be considered Arginine can half your blood sugar and so can glutamine. Wha the young men were suffering from was likely a severe drop in blood sugar.

I personally dont think you should take more than 4 grams of AAKG.

Perhaps you will appear a genius when you treat such a patient with lemonade(not coke).
When they ask how you came up with it ,you can say something about life experience having value.
