Default Want to BOOST your sex drive?

I've recently been reading a lot on this subject and while I'm obviously no professional on the subject I thought it would be very handy to help out those of us who have experienced decreases in our libido. I want to make sure each thread I create (this being my first) is beneficial. I hope that this helps at least one person!

I know this isn't directly linked to the art of penile exercise, but I personally see it as something closely bound with it.

A decreased sex drive can sometimes come mixed with other feelings, such as weakness, depression or even a feeling of inferiority. The first question to ask is...

...What causes a decrease in sex drive?

There are many factors/causes that can negate from your sex drive, and it all comes down to a decreased testosterone level. The are also factors which can either contribute to a decrease in your sex drive such as lack of sleep, being out of shape, drugs, alcohol and stress. (I believe there are other factors but I lack sufficient information to address these - I feel these are the most prominent). Many of these factors can also limit the success you have with your PE; in fact none of these bare positive effects when considering most walks of life.
  • A lack of sleep can have very adverse effects on your sex drive also increasing your cortisol levels...
  • Being out of shape will also have a negative effect on your sex drive, it's never good to be unfit. I believe that fatty tissue is also estrogenic, quite the counter to testosterone production...
  • Drugs may also be a countering factor. Marijuana can lower your testosterone levels for up to 24 hours after smoking...
  • Alcohol can also have poor effects on your sex drive, it's what is called a cumulative effect - lots of alcohol over time can cause serious damage to your sex drive...
  • Stress takes us back to that hormone known as cortisol, the stress hormone. This, in excess, reverts your body to it's fight-or-flight mode and after this your testosterone levels are spent...
When it comes down to solving problems with sex drive it can sometimes be evident what is causing it and thus a solution may present itself e.g. if you drink copious amounts of alcohol, a clear solution would be to simply cut down on it. There are some however which require further analysis, leading to the second question...

...How do we BOOST our sex drive?

Rest Assured! Although there are many factors that negate from our sex drive, there are also many that can benefit it! Therefore I shall cover the sex drive boosting factors as follows: exercise (split into weightlifting and cardio), meditation, testicle massage, supplement, diet, sleep and ejaculation!

  • The first stop is exercise, a key component in not only our sex drive but also in maintaining a general level of health.
  1. The first method of exercise I shall look at is weightlifting as I believe it to be more important in the production of testosterone and gives a big boost in sex drive. This is particularly effective when lifting heavier weights. The primary testosterone-producing muscles are the chest, back and the legs. Normal workout rules apply: warm-up before hand and don't exercise the same muscle group consecutively (change daily). Over-training will result in less testosterone production. Try and eat two hours prior to workout and relatively soon afterward, drink lots of water.
  2. On to cardio, I feel this is less important in terms of testosterone production but equally important in maintaining a general level of fitness. This will also help to increase blood-flow which will benefit erection quality and increase in endurance.
I have also read that watching pornographic material but not ejaculating before a workout can benefit a work-out, creating higher testosterone production during the workout, but I myself am against the use of pornography and retaining ejaculation (see the ejaculation point) for extended periods of time. I am however in no position to tell anyone not to and feel inclined to share all methods I have found.
  • Meditation is something that may not seem to be a normal solution, however I have read about it being very beneficial in solving the psychological probelms linked with sex drive. This will clear your mind as well aslower your cortisol levels.
  • Testicle massage can be performed in the shower with very little technique required. Simply massage them in hot water for 3-5 minutes (this should be enough) in order to keep everything working and producing testosterone as it should.
  • Supplement is another subject that appears to help, although by no means should you feel the need to go out and buy vast amounts of them. I have read about 'ZMA' - which contains zinc, Monomethionine Aspartate, Magnesium Aspartate and vitamin B - can apparently has given good boosts in sex drive and allegedly improved weightlifting. Flaxseed oil and fish oil are also rumoured to help with sex drive as it assists testosterone production as well as limiting estrogen. Make sure you buy flaxseed oil, not flaxseeds. Tribulus Terrestris and Tongkat Ali are two herbs that have proven to boost libido and testosterone.
  • Diet is another factor that can improve your sex drive. Broccoli, other green vegetable and lettuce are good for testosterone production and therefore sex drive. Watch your fat in-take. 30% is ideal, too much can counter your sex drive, however.
  • Sleep as discussed earlier is very important. If diet is maintained at a healthy level this should help sleeping patterns. Other factors discussed should also help with sleep. If problems persist it is important to get yourself checked out at the doctor.
  • Ejaculation is, I feel, very important in increasing your sex drive. Semen actually produces testosterone and thus aids your sex drive! The Royal Edinburgh Hospital also conducted an experiment over a 10-year period on 3,500 men and found that mean who ejeculated more frequently in the week looked averagely 10 years younger than those who did only once or twice a week. This again was creditted to testosterone production. I know that one member of our own family here, Kingpole, has had experiences with ejaculation retention and will back me up here. Have you ever been hornier than that teenage kid who used to play with himself daily?
Anyway, like I said, I'm no expert on this subject. I just thought I'd share with you guys the information I got out of studying this. I really hope it helps you guys out there who have this problem!

Awesome post.

I am totally with you on this one. Lack of sleep has affected my gains in the gym, and the general reduction in quality of health will affected pretty much everything. I was wondering what your thoughts were on taking some OTC thing like Melatonin.

I notice that when i take about 5 gm I actually get around 7hrs of sleep, but at the cost of a reduced testosterone level the next morning...would taking Melatonin at the cost of reduced test level, you think would outweight averaging about 5 hours of sleep a night? In terms of PE gains, that is...

Personally I think that anything that aids sleeping should be prioratised.

Sleep is vital not only to libido but to everything you do during the day.

Thanks man, I'm sure it has and also will for many more. You'll get credit for the piece of course, I'll just need any sources who deserve credit also, so I an include them in the piece.
