That's what a cock ring is primarily used for. I have ED so I always have a cock ring on during sex. Without it, I can rarely achieve penetration. I also occasionally wear a silicone ribbed cock ring just under my glans to give my wife a little more stimulation.

Yeah that is what they are for. I have found sometimes I do not achieve the same hardness from my erections with a cock ring. Sounds odd, my penis will be more engorged than usual, but is not at the same EQ as other times. If this is the case for you be cautious with penetration to make sure you don't damage anything.

I have used a constriction band around my whole unit (behind the balls) for over 15 years and haven't encountered any significant problems other than a doughnut when I kept it on too long.
