What are your views on using numbing agents (gels, creams, etc) to aid in preventing PE? They have no known long term side effects, and the only potential "negative" side effects is a loss of some pleasure due to desensitized nerves. But if you're with someone you really like, it might be worth it to use it. I haven't tried any yet but I'm giving it serious consideration. If you don't "know your unit" or have good control over certain muscles (like PC/BC) you might want to be careful, as a certain amount of numbing may actually lead to the inability to climax. I have good PC muscle control, and when I'm not as aroused I find that I'm able to climax on command via kegels. Where would be the best place to apply a cream? I was thinking on the underside, just below the glans, as this is generally considered the "trigger zone." The top of the glans is the most sensitive area for me, but I don't think those nerves are responsible for PE. I don't think numbing part of the underside of the penis would remove that much enjoyment, but I can see it significantly helping with PE. Anyone who has ever tried these creams, considered using them, or is flat out opposed to them, please post and give your two cents. The most common creams contain lidocaine (anywhere from 2-5%), and can be bought online or without a prescription. |

They're plenty safe and do work. Apply to the glans and below as you summized. Apply well before actual penetration so as not to numb her as well. Benzocaine such as found in orajel for toothaches is the primary active ingredient in most, so if you have some of that lying around give it a try, as it will not hurt you.

My only question about this would be, what about if she starts to give you oral? Wouldn't the taste be a turn off for her?

I have actually mixed orajel with mouthwash (minty) and she never knew there was desensitizer though she did recognize the cool minty freshness.

I see. So if several hours prior to sex I use the topical cream on my penis. Let it numb through. Before sex, say if I have a shower and wash myself, the cream will still work and she won't notice anything odd on the BJ? Sounds good if it can work like that. Do you know any good creams?

Not several hours............however the effect is temporary, but after being absorbed in the skin it won't wash off.

It would be much easier if you used a condom and applied the gel inside the condom. There are some condoms that already come with numbing gels for you to last longer, you might want to give that a shot.

Hmm.. after reading all your posts (thanks for the replies ) I think I'm gonna try numbing cream out. Does anyone know a brand that has discreet shipping (where the box doesn't indicate in any way what's inside) and can be ordered online? I live on a college campus and could do without the attention from this. :P
