Hmm, I to started touching myself at an early age, and was a virgin up until 20 years old. I have lasted 10 secs once, but we both just laughed and hit it off again a short time later. From that day, I started to do kegels.
I seem to use kegel as a different function than most of you guys, when Im masturbating or having sex, it is at the point when I feel like im about to ejaculate when I begin to pull a strong hard kegel to prevent ejaculation.
At first this happens around 3-5 times everytime I have sex, but now I have gotten the used to things and rarely do I have to stop and kegel.

Ok guys I have developed a theory.
Obviously kegaling and edging leads most men to greater control and eventually to multiorgasm. Of course when you are multiorgasmic, you don't need to keep your mind off your dick because if you orgasm ,you just keep going and have another one,
Now with some men kegals have the opposite effect and seem to speed them up. When I want to ejaculate I can use kegal strength to aid this.
My theory is that guys who strengthen through kegals, but speed up, lack control in how they use the added strength. I believe this may have to do with timing of kegals etc.
If this theory is true ,then work on kegal control will pay dividends.
E weasy you are probably doing kegals softly and unconsiously, now that you have good technique ,you don't need as much strength. I take it you are multi orgasmic?

E Weazy that is the point that you want to reach - only using kegels during sex as an emergency break. If you are at that point then you are set my friend.

If you imagine yourself cumming and then kegel, it feels a lot better than when you imagine yourself holding your piss and then kegel.
If you squeeze correctly you can either push yourself towards orgasm or even hold back your orgasm. If you do this correctly, you can force yourself to either get an erection or help maintain it. If you continue it'll feel really good too, like your are actually masterbating even though you aren't physically stimulating yourself.
If you can learn to kegel in this manner, so that you feel the beginning of an orgasm, then you will know how to relax that set of muscles.
The other way to kegel (feels like you are holding your piss or holding your cum) weakens any feeling you have during masterbation/sex.
I hope this analogy helps some people who are having trouble.

I'm glad where this thread has gone. Unfortunately there is no good way to actively NOT kegel when having sex. I think guys who last long are probably not even thinking about kegelling one bit. Not until the PONR anyway. But trying not to think about something is the same as thinking about it.
I think premature ejaculation is a vicious cycle. It's best to be fearless and just have fun. Have fun sex. Don't have sex that feels really really good. Have sex that's really really fun. As in, worry about the actions and emotions, not the sensations. And likewise, don't think about NOT worrying about the sensations, because that's the same thing as worrying about them.
Anyway, it's a hard hurdle to jump. And I still like the fleshlight idea. You guys with those training models should keep us updated.
Also, I really think this thread is spot on. I goes right down to the problem.

My fleshlight experience:
I used it to get used to the sensations during sex, and it has helped a great deal. I work on keeping my kegel relaxed for as long as possible while I'm thrusting. Usually when I get really really stimulated and close to PONR, I can feel my kegels start automatically, so
(1) slow down or stop! (2) deep belly breath and hold in (3) contract abs and expel breath out of mouth while you do "anal breath" (kind of like farting but don't do that)
you don't have to kegel at all, the point is move the energy away from your penis. The above is a cliffnotes version of a much more complicated Tantric exercise technique

Great advice pe ZEN. I stopped kegeling to hold back ejaculation years ago. I learnt how to relax and move the energy with breathing instead of creating tension by contracting. It sure makes a huge difference on orgasm sensation and control during sex.
