Holy Shit! That just gave me a great idea.

I'm gonna freaking try that. I'm going to walk up to some girl tomorrow and ask them to be my girlfriend, and see what happens.

Or else he's just 12, and I'm going to get utterly humiliated. lol

But, doesn't it just seem easier? Aristotle talks about the "Final End" the purpose which has no means for another purpose - for Aristotle that purpose is the meaning of life, but for our purposes it works.

Dating as an adult is just a means to an end, to start a relationship (for me at least) - but how much do you really learn about someone before entering into a relationship, don't you get to know someone while your mutually exclusive more so than when you were on dates, and don't they generally seem to be quite a bit different? (good or bad)

This will be a sociological experiment at the very least!

I have this really cute little boy who is 12 1/2. When he was 8 he asked me about getting a girlfriend. I told him he wasn't allowed to have a girlfriend until he was 13. I never expected that I would let him live long enough to be 13 but I guess I did. He came in my room the other night and here is how the conversation went;

Son: Dad I was thinking about getting a girlfriend.
Dad: Well you know the rules. You can't have a girlfriend until you're 13.
Son: Yes Dad I know but I was thinking when I was 13 about getting one.
Dad: Well son you just have to wait a bit longer. By the way son, how would you go about getting a girlfriend?
Son: Well you know Dad I'll just have to ask one. You know Dad I might have to ask every girl on the planet before I get one. I read somewhere that there are more girls on the planet than boys so sooner or later I'll get one.
Dad: Does it make a difference whether it's sooner or later?
Son: Nope not at all Dad ; I just want to have one.
Dad: Well son if you get a girlfriend what do you have to do with her?
Son: Dad you don't have to do anything; you just say that you have one!

Well I think life will teach him a thing or two as he grows up but some of us on the dating scene may learn something from his innocence and simplicity.
