If a moderator or administrator recieves 10+ genuine negative reps whilst being a moderator or administrator, in your opinion should they step down from there position of authority?

PLEASE NOTE: This is only a question for moderators, administrators or founder.

If a mod was having that bad a day it would be calmed down before it got to that point. Sometimes a mod is an easy target to get reps from people they disagree with.

And that's why i said 10 genuine negative reps. Their must be a negative rep boundary limit because most mods and adminstrators have 1000s of rep points so they could in theory get neg repped hundreds of times before we see the red boxes. So what is acceptable before action is taken?

    No, I don't think so

A mod might do his job very well and not have everyone agree with him, hence the neg reps. It is also quite interesting when these "genuine neg reps" pretty much all come from a handfull of people, a little group if you will.

So long as rep greatly outweighs neg rep (as in hundreds of reps compared to a few neg reps) surely that member should be considered a valuable poster?

Also, people in positions of authority are not supposed to be people pleasers, they are supposed to do their job! And sometimes doing your job means that some people will disagree with your actions or decisions

Answered perfectly. If I had 10 negs my positives would over 27 to 1 for a ratio. The content of the post would have to be taken into account.

There is only one person who has higher reputation points than me here at the gym and that is Cusp
and I have never received a negative rep point during my time here,
i am not a people pleaser and i do deal with the difficult members and situations just as much as any mod here. So i think if a mod is getting too many neg reps they are doing something wrong. IMO
If a member feels a mod or even another member is abusing the rep system.... be it given too many neg reps, baiting, bullying, or because of the content, tone, language of the message left with the neg rep.. you should report it to admin or moderator (obviously if its a moderator you are reporting take it to admin) and it will be looked into and if no action is taken it will at least be noted.

If you feel you are having an ongoing issue with a mod, or you question their position ..the best course of action you can take is pm'ing admin.

I think Schlittle brings up an interesting question.

Tinkerbell and CUSP are the two with the highest rep (Right?) and I don't consider either to be people pleasers. Actually, quite the opposite - they look for what is best for the site, and for the forums as a whole and don't tip toe on eggshells around certain issues. Whether you like it or not, they will tell you how it is.

It's not so much what a person says, but rather how it is said that can cause problems. We all see CUSP and Tinkerbell say some things people might not necessarily like, but they do it in a way that is highly professional and that doesn't step on toes. They command respect by showing giving it first. Everyone likes them.

Someone else might be saying the same thing, but approach the subject in a different way. People who give negative rep will likely do it if they feel insulted or hurt by someone's comment. Some people approach disagreements with rudeness and this can earn a negative rep and general disregard in the forums.

If this is describing any one of the staff, then I don't think a simple red thing is going to solve the problem. By all means, lower their rep status to express how you feel, but be sure to PM admin about the problem as well.

I would like to think everyone on the team handles themselves in a constructive way.

No I got a neg rep when I was a mod from a mod. We haven't seen him for at least a year. True story!
