I write songs and play around with my guitar occasionally and a few years ago I wrote this one. For some reason I think it applies even more so today than back then. I've avoided political conversation here in the forums, at great strain I might add, but someone else has touched on a political nerve in another thread so I felt I could share this with all of you.

I get sick and tired of the tv news and some reporter with twisted views
trying to make us see the world the way they think we should
and though they say they don't I know they take sides and what they don't want us to see they hide
that's why you never see them talk about the things that make our lives so good
and I'm tired of them running down our nation.........with misleading propaganda and lies
I think its high time for a big retaliation...........for Americans to stand........and make them realize

That we're for GOD and Family and standing for what's right....for Peace and Harmony, but not afraid to fight
We're for working hard to earn our way and helpin out our friends......but that's not all the good there is to say
when you talk about Americans......cause we're for Freedom and Liberty, to protect the little man
for Love and Charity...........always giving all we can...........though we defeated all our enemies we were the first to lend a hand
so dot all your I's and cross all your T's when you talk about Americans

GOD blessed this nation from the start and that's simply what sets us apart......from all the other countries in this world
that can't seem to get it right.......but there's a mighty evil now in our land........and if we don't pause to take a stand
we could be weakened to the point..........that we can't put up a fight
so make sure when you ask GOD for his blessings........that you pray for our nation when you do
and pray for the wisdom of our leaders.....that he'll help to keep them Faithful and True.....

next time you watch the tv news and some reporter's cryin crocodile blues..really cuttin down our nation, saying capitalism fails........remember they don't have a clue about what's important to me and you and you can change that tv station
and ring the Liberty Bell......... you don't have to play their propaganda game..........you've got the right to stand up and proclaim......

Now just in case I may have somehow offended someone out there........I don't care, it's your problem and not mine. I don't care because what I have said (typed) I believe 100% and there is nothing that could or would ever change the way I feel about my country, the people of my country, and the gross misrepresentations that the crooked, disengenuous media have made and continue to make constantly.

I totally respect your views and opinions. I probably shouldnt say anything but I'm a very outspoken person. I'm also liberal and atheist.

Although these lyrics are very nice and I can anticipate a nice blues chords progression, I disagree with everything you said. I'm not exactly offended, but I'm pretty surprised. I dont feel like turning this into a political showdown but I can give you 1000000+ examples of America's corruption. The reality is really shocking. You can believe in what you wrote here, but fact is fact. I dont want to get into detail because I will really offend you. So yeah, as an informed citizen, I felt like I had to comment on this. I'm doing my best to stay relaxed and to keep my mouth shut.

I'm outspoken as well, I do believe in God almighty and while there are many, MANY things wrong with the United States of America, I'll be damned if I'd live anywhere else in this world.

Hey Phibby you did a good job man. I believe in God also. Its a damn shame all the loud mouth fuckers in this country that love to bad mouth it why dont they go live in some other country if they dont like what we stand for. This country is fucked up because theres so many people that think theyre owed something. They dont want to get off their ass and work. They just want to bitch about what others have and think they should have it too. Fuckem all.

Notice I have never singled out and accused or commented on any single country as of yet, but almost instantly I have received an assault on my own. You'll never once hear me proclaim The U.S. as perfect and I know far too well the problems of corruption in our government. Interestingly enough though, most the corruption stems from liberal idealist who do not follow the long standing Principles this country was founded on. There are many bad people in our country, from the poorest of poor all the way up to the most wealthy and powerful. Canada would certainly have its own share of corruption also which negates any critism a Canadian might have of the U.S. Bad people and corruption can be found anywhere and everywhere in the world. All that being said, I will reaffirm that The United States of America is the Greatest country on Earth and history proves that the capitalistic system of free men and women given liberty to seek out and pursue betterment and greater quality of life will always far surpass and exceed the accomplishments of the nanny care nations that live as sheep driven by the shephard, relying on mother government to care for them. The hypocracy of those who would belittle and degrade The U.S. while everyday living free and safe and enjoying the marvels of modern technology the U.S. has produced , is astonishing to say the least.
Let all of you out there who live in the perfect society and owe NOTHING at all to the U.S. speak out loudly as to why you hate it so much, but let you who live freely and safely and enjoy things such as electricity and automobiles as well as telephone, television and internet and so many other things taken for granted........keep silent and remove all imperfections from your own house before giving degrading comment on mine!!

Its not guys like us making other countries hate the Americans , its the greedy politicians. Being athiest would have one advantage I could kill fuckers I dont like and not feel like i've thrown my soul away. But i have a god and he wont like me doing that.

All the nations of the world are extremely corrupt including the good ol' USA. But I would rather live here than anywhere else because here you can exercise free speach. You have freedom of worship. Freedom to pursue happyness. Im a liberal i am also a Christian and my name happens to be Christian. So im guilty by association.

What irks me is that a lot of Christians would not consider me a Christian even though my name is Christian because i am a liberal. I no longer go to church because church has become a free political platform for the Republican party. Please lets really seperate church and state.

Ok. I am guilty. I contributed to this thread. BUT, we will not have a discussion on religion or politics. This has happened too many times on too many different PE sites and it invariably creates hard feelings, flaming and anger.
