Post Vitamins linked to death....

Taking antioxidants like vitamins A and E to prolong life may actually being doing the opposite, according to new research. A review of 67 studies involving more than 230,000 people found 'no convincing evidence' that the vitamins prolonged life, and while some have called the study flawed, the researchers say the vitamins can actually increase mortality rates.

Well, hello Sweety. Good to see a post from you. We haven't met yet so, Howdy.

You know, there have been just as many studies saying just the opposite, so who do you believe?

The only way the body can produce vitamins is if certain food stuffs are ingested. The body NEEDS these vitamins otherwise certain aspects of the body will break down.

Taking these vitamins in correct doses should not damage the body in any way, unless the vitamins pills (in this survey) were not of a high standard and were packed full of other chemicals.

I also can’t understand how scientists can prove vitamins increase mortality rates. Do they follow a group of people their entire lives and wait for them to drop dead? People may be doing all sorts of things, drugs, smoking, drinking; a few vitamins here and there wont do any good.
And how CAN you prove vitamins prolong life??? Do they tell people "well sir, without these vitamins you’ve been taking, you should have died last Thursday, congratulations!!”

These surveys aren’t reliable. Each individual will live a different amount of time, a couple of long living folks could have an impact on the average lifespan for a group, you just can’t tell with these things.

I may be babbling, I’m extremely tired =D

I like to think of it like this. There will always be a statistic or survey that says one thing and something else that contradicts it. Our life expectancy just keeps getter shorter. SO... eat healthy and exercise.

They were probably testing synthetic vitamins like Centrum. The liver has a hard time proccesing synthtic anything let alone vitamins. And how much vitamin A and E did they use. Both are toxic at high levels. Sounds like another smear campaighn by the FDA or some drug company trying to regain $$$ back lost to the natural foods industry.
