Done with hanging...
Most of the studies I've looked at come up with averages rather than the median--which is much more
meaningful to me. Kinsey et al wrote that (I believe his staff measured non-boned pressed), about 30 %
were 5.75" or less. About a quarter measured 6". Girth-wise, I believe the "average" is around 4.75" to
just under 5".
When I feel REALLY, REALLY insecure, I check out those studies again.![]()

Well, the kinsey study was self measured, and from a while back. He had people hold their own penises against postcards and report back.
Here is a nice detailed list of more modern studies, complete with links to the actual studies themselves.
Penis Size: The True Average - Thunder's Place Free Penis Enlargement Forums
Even the median of the lifestyles study, which has technically never been proven to be bone pressed or nbp because the official data was never actually released (however it was overseen by doctors making sure the nurses measured "properly", and medically "to the pubic bone" is the universal standard), the median was 5.65, meaning half under, half over. This was a volunteer study, most likely having people with something they thought was worth showing off. So the real average is expected to be even lower.
Also, I think one of the most valuable looks at penis size is the "pre pe erect length survey" over at thunders. They have had over 4000 respondents.
A large amount of people measured between 5.75 and 6.25 BPEL, leading to believe the average is somewhere around 5-5.5 nbpel, maybe even less depending on how fat most of the respondents were. 4000 respondents is (to my knowledge) the largest reliable survey on size. It is also self reported, but I feel like PE'ers would be less apt to lie or measure wrong that other self reported studies.
Still with this information, I worry that maybe the average is smaller because it is a PE website, potentially attracting a smaller sized audience. Who knows. Heres the link...

TwitterI have trouble believing this also. I was a natural 6.75" BP and I still have trouble believing this is supposed to be above average. No woman has ever commented and I have always figured that is because it was pretty much the same size or smaller than they were used to. I think a woman is much more likely to say something if they are impressed than if they aren't. I am now more than 7" and it only occasionally looks half way impressive to me and pretty much looks like what I perceive a bone stock average member to look like. I would say to you feel lucky you are above average in girth. How many times have you heard it here that woman prefer girth to length? That never made me feel better but it should you.

TwitterThose who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Ben Franklin, 1775.
It's weird man. I just don't get it. It's completely and utterly delusional to think otherwise when presented with 10+ studies on size, plus a 4000 vote self measured survey at thunders place that puts the avg around 6 or less BPEL, to believe that the avg is still almost an inch above that. If someone was just an unbiased onlooker, they'd think we're cooks... and we most likely are. But it doesn't help the image in our minds.
I too feel that when faced with this mountain of information, all pointing to the same conclusion, I still do not believe it. I feel like everyone is either the same or bigger than me. But again, to think of 10+ studies plus a 4000 vote survey, all being wrong, lends me to believe the problem lies in our heads and not in our dicks. However that realization never helps me even though I am able to recognize that. Probably the only way I would ever actually get over this is if I saw a bunch of normal men erect in person, which, unless my life takes a crazy turn, will probably never happen.
One of the guys said earlier in the thread that he had a 6.75 bpel and got multiple comments on size. So I don't know what to believe. It would be logical to believe the studies and surveys instead of believing what men and women say by word of mouth, but I guess logic does not apply in our situation, because no matter how hard I try to look at it objectively, it never helps.

TwitterI'm not totally discounting the studies but the scientific evidence is supposed to be indisputable regarding man caused global warming yet there are numerous scientists who aren't being funded by government grants that would disagree. The scientific and medical community have been wrong before and for this and other reasons I will always have my doubts just like I will have my doubts over the "size doesn't matter" thing. I have come across too many examples of women saying it doesn't matter then finding examples from the same women saying things that makes it obvious that it does. Like I said just be glad your sporting good girth., that is where I feel I'm really lacking and really distrust what is supposed to be "average".

True. But there is reasons for scientists to sway each way on the issue of global warming, due to influence peddling, what have you. To believe that every single one of those studies mentioned is somehow trying to screw with our heads is a pretty crazy idea. But I'm with you man, I don't believe the average either. However, even if what you did say about scientists being wrong was true, how do you explain the thunders AND pegym pre pe erect length polls? They each (thunders with many more responders) put 6.75 bpel up in the 70+'th percentile. These are people responding like you and me. I think the most logical thing to believe, is that if the average that woman see is indeed higher, it is not because the studies of overall penis size are wrong, but moreso, those with lesser sizes tend to get around alot less. The average is brought downwards by whoever they measure under 5 inches, and brought upwards by whoever they measure over 7 inches. Guess which side of the scale is going to have the confidence to be sleeping with all the women in town... so imagine that average, without the 5 and under guys.
One other reason for our situation, if the AVG of the men shes seen is 5.5 nbpel, and you have/had around 6nbpel, I doubt a woman would make a stink over a half of an inch. Yes it is above average statistically, but I dont think women sit around saying, "Oh last night I had sex with a 6 inch penis, it was so nice compared to that 5.5 from last week" haha. She probably noticed it as larger, but just noticed it not as an above average penis, but a "penis" sized penis if that makes any sense. I think the practice of measuring our dicks in increments of .1 is purely a practice of our own, and only means anything to us in our minds, rather than anything substantially different.
For example, I (just turned 18 within the last couple of months) have recently met up with an old girlfriend from a year or so ago. Back when we were with each other, my dick measured about 5.5 nbpel and 6.2 bpel (on a good day). She said it was, and I quote, "The same", as the other dicks she has seen. She's relatively inexperienced so I don't think the girth played into that statement at all. Now, I recently met up with her within the last few months. Over the last year, I had lost about 30 lbs, but also (because my BPEL grew) must have also by some miracle grown a little more (before PE) . When she saw me last I was 6ish nbpel and 6.75 bpel. I could tell by a look in her eye that maybe she sensed something was different, but overall, she didn't sense anything different enough to say anything about it. It probably was still "the same" in her mind. It was a penis sized penis to her. That was it.

TwitterThe biggest problem with all the guys saying their girls say they're small, is the internet. You look for porn and you'll find larger than average penis' all over the place. That and if you tell her you're 6" long, she'll think that's small because when guys mention their penis' in mixed company, they all say 8".
This wasn't much of a problem in my day. There was no internet when I went to high school and college. So I was only compared to the previous partner(s) of my gf's. Today, porn is so prevalent that it gives a really skewed perspective to people about what a body should look like.
