I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of this book (actually a trilogy of books) due to the controversial BDSM subject material. What some of you might not know is that the book was written by a woman. I've read through the first book already and it's actually very easy reading. Most of it IS over the top fantasy and the book, in terms of writing quality, is actually pretty weak. BUT, I think there are certain concepts and scenarios that are very true and very intriguing. Even though you might cringe at some of the dialogue, the author does a great job of putting you in the mind of a female and letting you know how she feels.

I know the majority of the audience for this book is female, but there is a reason why women are reading this in droves and I think it would serve men extremely well to read and understand the book.

There is one part of the book (and I don't believe I'm spoiling anything by saying this) that really hits home and that is when the Dominant tells the Submissive, that even though she is tied, gagged and bound, that SHE holds all the power, not himself.

That part really got me thinking. About how I view women and sex and from the topics I have heard on here. Women DO have all the power and control. That's why us men grovel, beg, obsess, and fret about performance, penis size, appearance...all for ONE thing. For women to ALLOW us to have their sex.

And I find absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, I wouldn't have it any other way.

But before any one thinks that means the man has to belittle himself...that is not the case. SHE has to be worth it.

It's steamy reading for women, because of the princess/damsel in distress factor and learning with a strange kinky fetish thing. I haven't read it, but I've heard a lot about it and from what I've heard, it's ill-advised to take sex tips from that book... Dunno, I can't stomach the thought of reading Bondage stuff, considering i'm not into it at all myself... and hell... I can write a steamy sex scene myself.

I've read the book and my wife is reading it as well. I can tell you that we are a very normal, but VERY sexually active, couple. We've been together over 10 years. We have no strange fetishes (unless you count my foot fetish) and the most "painful" thing we have ever done is hot candle wax (on her...I can't stand pain at ALL). Basically, I don't think we are freaks and we both admitted that this book "stirred" something in us. Not that we want to go out and buy some duct tape and rope, but what I mean is that there are concepts in the book that are very true. Not so much in a literal sense, but in a subconscious and deeply mental sense.

Hard to explain unless you've read it.

I don't know why... But Female Nurses always seem to have their "fingers on the pulse" (pun intended) of tendencies of the female populous. I don't know why, but I say watch the Nurses.... They KNOW something haha

Oh and my Wife read this book(s) also... It seems she is "slightly" more open to some different experiences not usually considered.

All I know about this book is there's a SNL skit on it with all the wives/moms being caught with it while masturbating.
Sure youtube or something has it.

Yeah I wonder about the book. I might read it as well. It's ALL over Facebook about how women love Christian Grey.

The above is not meant to be argumentative, abrasive or confrontational. Take this and everything you read with a grain of salt.

I read a bit of it yesterday after reading this post. Funnily enough, it came up in conversation last night.

Turns out I had it on my computer without knowing it. It was in my massive book collection.

    Once again, great post.

I've read it, and am working on the second book in the series. Yes, it is good. Reasonably well written, thought-provoking, and very sexy. Makes BDSM much more understandable and frankly very very intriguing.
