    Does the term "morning wood" imply that we should have an erection when we wake up every morning?

    Every day, l br
    iefly wake up in the early morning to take a time-sensitive medication, then go right back to sleep before waking up for the day 3-4 hours later. lt's hard for me to tell due to being sleepy and going right back to bed, but sometimes i notice i'll have an erection the 1st time i wake up. However, i usually won't have an erection when i wake up again later.

    Morning wood is a really good sign of "normal" male health. Please excuse the use of the word normal (that is why I put it in quotes). Everyone is a little bit different. So, "normal" is very subjective. But - yes! You dick does a bunch of exercises every night. I don't know the numbers, but most men likely have something like 15 erections during the night (please note that this is a somewhat random number....ymmv). Not having morning wood at all is likely an indication (being careful with my words here) that there is something going on and that you might want to heed that signal.

    For those not experiencing morning wood regularly I would ask about their EQ (erection quality).

    As I stated when I was a very active member here (some time ago) and now that I am back, I am mainly focused on erection quality.

    So, if you have really good EQ when you are with a woman (or man, whatever floats your boat, man...I don't judge) then I would still be interested in the "no morning wood" situation and investigate.

    If, however, you have poor EQ *AND* no morning wood that is your mind | body telling you that there is something going on. I - to be completely honest - do not buy into the whole "well, you are getting older" reason. BS. I work out in the gym everyday and the young guys ask me if they can work out with me. "Getting older and that just happens" is a BOLD FACED LIE. It is an excuse. It does *NOT* have to be.

    I would suggest that you look at your testosterone levels. That is likely the one thing where I do accept the statement "you are just getting older...it happens".

    Keep in mind that there is a TON going on with an erection. Both mind and body are involved.

    Also, maybe there is a circulation issue. I mean, let's keep the math simple....what is an erection? It is blood flowing into and filling up "those three tubes" and then staying there. If you are experiencing circulation issues, there is a possibility as to what the issue could be.

    Masturbation | porn - man, that really messes up our minds. Plus, most of it is "fake". Meaning, it is six or seven or eight takes, edited to look like one scene. Most men do not perform like a porn star. Most men do not have the magical 8x6 dick and can shoot out ropes on command after 30 minutes of hard "thrusting". Most guys just cant. That is why porn stars are said to be in that 2%. It sets the (mental) expectations way off. On both sides. Women, who do watch port (no matter what anyone says) see "that guy" and expect that their guy performs that way. Not likely gonna happen. I mean, let's be honest. So, there is a mental disconnect between fantasy (and that is what porn is.....unfortunately) and reality. That *could* be an issue (read: the mental side). I know that when I am upset with something or someone my ability to get hard and to stay hard diminishes greatly (which really pisses me off! :-))

    So, take heed of what your body is telling you. The fact that you (A) are here and (B) asking this question is a really good start.

    Hey, man - if I might, jump over (in addition to this forum) to the ED and PreMature forums. There are some amazing posts about "what an erection is" and the whole process of getting an erection and keeping an erection and the orgasm process. Way too much going on there (and so few consider just how involved this really is). You don't have to suffer from either to jump over there and absorb all that knowledge.

      I was having a very bad EQ some weeks ago and I took a break from PE to gain my EQ back. Now I can have good erections during the day but I still don't wake up with morning woods. I guess it means that I still have to recover until I get my morning woods back, right?

        Thanks, i appreciate the input. i'll give that forum a look

        i'm 28, so probably still too young to be having EQ issues. The only time i had ED problems with a girl was when i was overtraining PE... but the main reason i'm asking this question is because i've worked at PE for *years* (on and off) but have been consistent the past several months.... and have seen absolutely *zero* results. SG, jelqs, manual stretches, Bathmate... nothing

        The only time i saw results was from the 1st couple months of using the Bathmate. But all i got from my 2nd go-around with it was discoloration

        There is a possibility it's a hormonal thing... i have hypothyroidism and cortisol issues (and God knows what else, still sorting it out). My main issue is fatigue, but i definitely don't have the libido i'm used to haing,. For a while last year i was on Toremifene for low Testosterone. Months after i stopped, my T levels were varying around 600-800, so they seemed fine. However, i also tested for high SHBG, which i'm told can inhibit even high testosterone levels. So i'm working that out

        Big Al mentioned considering focusing on EQ work for a while. l'm definitely open to that idea, but he said it was for those who are "stagnant" in PE. Considering i've hardly made any gains to begin with, i'm seriously doubting if there's any hope for me in this realm

          OP I think it is important to note that you are having morning wood. When you wake up to take your pills it is there. Morning wood is a result of chemical changes inside us during change over from sleep to wake. Nocturnal erections also happen that we are not aware of. So you are having them, just not when you consider morning. Still the healthy function is there

            I get wood all night long and first thing in the morning. Additionally, I've noticed that before I get out of bed and really open my eyes much, any thought - even tiny thoughts - about sex get me instantly hard.

            Even 30 minutes later it's completely impossible for me to get hard from imagination alone. It's really frustrating.

              my morning wood keep waking me up all night happens sometimes but don't worry it's an automatic thing

                Hey, man! That is some good information that you posted.

                I work in IT but am a certifiable health nut! At least, that is what everyone tells me! LOL! Hey, when the younger girls all fight to hug you and tell you "Man, your shoulders are so nice...you work out?" and the like...total ego boast! LOL!

                The cortisol thing is - as I am sure that you were told - a *HUGE* issue. Without going on a diatribe here, cortisol is your "fight or flight" hormone. So, it is super important. How do you thing people jump 15 feet or lift things that weigh 450lbs (to get it off their child) or whatever amazing things that people do when faced with imminent danger? It is cortisol. So, super important. BUT - cortisol is also a very inmflamatory hormone. So, when you go run 13 miles you put your body under immense stress. Cortisol is released into your bloodstream to do something about all that stress. Well, cortisol *KILLS* testosterone. ABSOLUTELY KILLS IT! DEAD! So, if you have elevated levels of cortisol in your blood stream then that is a huge part of the issue. If you can get that under control then you will see a *HUGE* change in lots of things.

                At 28, as you stated, you are likely too young for anything! LOL! But, I never use age as an excuse or reason or whatever. Yes, as we age there are things that we need to know and to ensure that we check. Absolutely. Just like on a car - at 5,000 miles you change your oil, at 15,000 miles you change your breaks, at 30,000 miles you flush your coolant system, and so on. Our body - in this context - is like a car. Things wear out. If we do not pay attention then we have issues. Age is often a part of that. I say "BULLSHIT" to that, most of the time, though. But, that is just me. I am hard headed and competitive (in a very healthy way...) and firmly believe that age is just a number. So far, pretty much the case for me. But, everyone is different.

                So, my point with the age thing is that "you are not too young" or "you are not too old" for anything. Well, that is my mindset. Admittedly, I am a bit different! LOL! But, please dont ever think that you "are too young" to have this issue or that issue. Or, too old, for that matter.

                So, stagnant in the gym - or, reaching a plateau - is when you do the same exercises for (roughly) six weeks and your body adapts to that set of exercises and your body stops responding. See, to me, that is an amazing example of just how much the human body adapts to things. It is a wonderful thing.

                So, in the gym, when you reach a plateau, what do you do? You do decidedly different exercises. Maybe the same muscle groups....but different exercises. So, instead of bench press on the Smith Machine you do dumbbell bench press. Now, you are bringing in the stabilizing muscles into the mix and the angle is a bit different and and and. The body is all "WTF?" and it starts to respond. Or, instead of doing straight leg dead lifts you do sumo dead lifts. Point here is, you mix it up a bit. You body is all "That work out was so last week....been there, done that.....not listening any more" and you mix it up and your body is now all "Holy cow, what is that....let's do this!!!!!".

                Same with this stuff. Big Al might just know a thing or two. Just saying. And, I do not want to put words in his mouth, I am sure that he would be the first to tell you that everyone is different and that not everyone is going to respond the same way to the same exercise.

                As to no gains....to be honest, I had very little in the way of measurable gains when I was doing this consistently, but that is likely because I was overdoing things and had not found the "mixture" that worked for me. I did not give up...life got in the way. But - my EQ was pretty good, generally speaking....but when doing this stuff (read: when I did not overdo it) my EQ went through the roof. Not to brag, but when a girl is all proud and brags to her friends "OMG! He was throbbing in my mouth the whole time...I could feel it pulsing in my mouth...and when he came he shot it so hard that it hurt when the three huge ropes bounced off my chest". So, my point....and guys, promise that I am not bragging....if you *only* improve your EQ with this then that is a 10000000000000% win.

                I am telling you.....and I have said this before (in one way or another).....most women will not give two s**ts if your dick is five inches long or eight inches long, four inches thick or six inches thick....they will not be able to tell anyone....but what they will know for sure is that "his cock was so freaking hard....it felt so amazing inside me". And all her girl friends will be like "Damn, girl, what are you doing to turn your man on?". I promise you....I have heard that conversation before. The look on my girl's face and the look of envy on all of her girl friend's faces. Priceless. Dude, you get 95% EQ every time (sure, 100% would be awesome....let's not get greedy, right?) and your girl is going to notice it......I MEAN HOLY COW! And when you are rock hard there are things that you can do that you can *NOT* do if your are 80%. Anal is one of those things. Certain positions (like her on the counter top....) require super rock hard. And, then, staying rock hard (essentially) the whole time....DANG! She is going to LOVE IT.

                Also keep in mind - and this is my personal position, so please be duly "warned" - that there are herbs and natural medicine that you can take to help with these things. However, with your medical situations I would not do anything with the approval of and clearance from your doctor.

                So, hang in there....don't give up. Even in my absence (when life got in the way) I still would edge (much less frequently, but edged nonetheless!).

                  If you have a regular sleep schedule (with full sleep) you'll note morning woods in most cases. The penis functions on what's known as the Nocturnal Penile Tumescence (NPT) cycle. It becomes erect several times a night in a cyclical manner. If your sleep is poor or you wake up in the middle of your normal sleep schedule you may not note an erection if your penis isn't in the active part of the cycle.
