  • Why Warm up?

    Hi,

I was just thinking going back a couple decades ago when I used to go to the gym and workout.
I used to stretch to warm up
but with the PE it is the other way around, that is warm up first then stretch
    Am I making sense?

im not too experienced but I would venture to say that with working out youre stretching muscles.. but with pe youre stretching ligaments and different tissues?

A lot of people would suggest that you warmup before stretching when doing normal exercise too. A bit of light cardio gets the blood flowing and will help to loosen you up a bit before stretching. I have to admit, I'm guilty of cold stretching before going running or working out at the gym.

In PE the stretch is the actual workout.

We always warm up before a workout to help prevent injury.

take a dry wood stick, bend, it will crack
take a dry wood stick, boil then bend, it will not crack

every workout (PE or gym) should start with some kind of cardio integrated wether it be bicycle or running, warming up with water in this case etc
heat up ligaments, bodyparts, get your blood flowing and puls up
then stretch. Yes u can do PE and gym training with 0 warmup
in my book thats a un-necessary risk your taking, just my opinion.

Warming up increase blood flow and facilite the tissue you are about to work to be much more flexable.
