Avoiding the frenulum is a guideline, because it would cause many members to lose control and ejaculate.
Treat as a guideline adjust to your circumstance.

Just a little trick I've been experimenting with. When edging, whisper a slow-paced song (less than 100 BPM) under your breath. I've found that it helps take your mind away from the need to ejaculate as you're concentrating on the lyrics and it also helps control your breathing.
I've just done this for 25 minutes at a relatively fast stroke speed and felt no urge to ejaculate.
Try it.Start (1st October 2009): 6.25" BPEL, 4.4" EG
Current (1st April 2010): 7.05" BPEL, 4.72" EG
Ultimate Goal: 7.75" BPEL, 5.50" EG

Ive been doing edging and ballooning for the past two weeks, and I have to say that they are the two best penile health exercises that I have come across. I really think it is important NOT to ejaculate more than one to five times per week as this boosts your sex drive and erectile performance. Different people have different physiology and some people can ejaculate more often than others without negative effects, but in general the less often you ejaculate the better and stronger your sexual response becomes. There is a medical study which shows that testosterone is maximized by only ejaculating once per week. If you like being relaxed, content, and focusing on things besides sex I suggest ejaculating more often such as 2-5 times per week. If you like being extremely horny, like a timebomb waiting to explode then I reccommend ejaculating only 1 or 2 times per week. These are all from my personal experiences.
PS: I beleive edging and ballooning are almost the same thing. The only different is that ballooning has you do a reverse kegel when you are near cumming, whereas edging just has you stop stimulation for a little while. I tend to always do both edging and ballooning at the same time.
