Hi!
Was trying to figure out the quality of my erection. How hard it is. How do you know if you are of normal hardness? (my gf assures me I am, of course)
How do you measure hardness of an erection? To check how far one can press something relatively thin (like a rubber of 5 mm width) into the side of the penis/erection is one way to go. But you have to press the rubber with the same force everytime you check - something spring loaded is good (when the springs start to compress, check rubber).
A little verbose maybe...
I wonder if you can check hardness of erection by testing how much your penis can hold?
If so; when you are erect, and flexing your pelvic floor muscles (to further strengthen the erection), how much can you hold with your penis without the shaft going below aproximately 90 degrees from your body?
I took a weight and hung it close to the middle of the shaft. Also tried to hang it at the base of the penis.
In both situations I could hold a maximum of one pound. Any more weight would force my shaft below 90 degrees. I did not have the best erection ever but don't think I would have been able to hold much more even with a real good erection.
What is normal? What can you hold?
Thanks.

The weight doesn't check how hard your penis is, so much as how strong your pc muscles are, which is a different matter.

Duked, ya know brother? The penis contains ligaments. One of the best ways I know to injure or tear one of these is exactly what you are doing. A torn ligament would put you out of action for a VERY long time. Stop messing around with your penis at full erection. A rupture of the Tunica is another possibility. Thrombosed vein is another.

pegasus,
Yes, lifting/holding is dependent on muscles of course. But while the muscles are the real force behind the lifting, one couldn't do it without a stiff shaft, right?
Unless the shaft is of decent hardness, it won't be able to hold the weight at 90 degrees, but bend. So, if muscles are very strong, but the shaft soft, you wouldn't be able to hold the weight.
True, if you had a very hard erection but weak muscles, you wouldn't be able to hold the weight, despite having a very stiff shaft. But holding-a-weight would still be a good way to measure your hardness, just that you measure with relaxed muscles?
Why I wanted to measure with flexed PC-muscles is because the muscles will compress corpora cavernosa and make the penis feel harder. I.e. strong muscles help make the erection harder - and thus help the shaft avoid bending and lift more. So, to measure your maximum hardness, I prefer the test with flexed PC-muscles.
I guess penis lifting should be a good method for checking hardness of penis? The stiffer your erection, the more you will be able to lift? And the stronger your PC-muscles, the harder your erection will be.

JonPop,
Thanks for the warning, but my poor penis has had to put up with a lot in the past (am nicer to it now)...
But was it the lifting you were worried about (it is recommended as an exercise at this site, isn't it?)?
Or the rubber thing?
The latter came from a "study"/experiment I made... A female (on-line) friend and I have always wondered (and been intrigued/fascinated by) what happens to the penis during a strong vaginal contraction.
If the woman has very strong vaginal muscles, will she compress (her muscles "digging" into the shaft) the cock somewhat (a few millimeters), or will the shaft be hard enough to resist her strength?
Used a rubber (<10 mm width) to act as the female pubic bone (at the anterior vaginal wall) and a Kegelmaster to replicate vaginal closure force.Last edited by duked; 07-25-2009 at 04:39 AM. Reason: spelling/grammatical error... has -> have
