when measuring length, are you supposed to have the ruler flat on top of the penis...
or on its side such as these pictures, this way seems a bit more accurate:

sorry, i couldn't get the pictures in the post
and another question, I have a bit of a up curve (if i put the ruler on top, i can fit my pinky finger between the ruler and the curved part), does this mean that it would be a bit longer than what is on the ruler? ( i hope so lol)Last edited by MrB8; 01-23-2015 at 05:40 PM. Reason: Fixed pictures

Yes, that is an accurate way to measure, as the ruler will not get between the pubic bone and your penis as you push deeper.
Also yes, it means your penis may be a bit longer if you measure with a flexible ruler.
Common measuring mistakes!

thanks, i agree. I used to measure BPEL with it flat on the penis, and i think i got to like 7'', but when i did it this way i was only like 6.75 or something, pretty humbling, but i think a lot of other people are a little smaller than they think if they measure BP with it flat.

All that matters is that you measure the same way every time so that you know if you are gaining or not. If you measure different ways you can be +/- 0.5 inches off sometimes.
Take before pictures with your iphone or even an iphone video.

so you measure with the ruler vertical and not horizontal(flat to penis)

You can both ways, but most find the vertical position more accurate.
There's a type of craft ruler, found in hobby and craft stores, that's made from a firm polymer. Not brittle like the other plastic rulers, it can be bent in half, and even rolled up, but will return to flat if left alone.
Great for curve measuring. Found mine made by Fiskars, the scissor company.Going an inch and 1/2 deeper than before
