  • thoughts on hypnotherapy?

my HF problem has led me to this question, but i need a few other things in my head fixing. ive booked my first appointment with a counsellor and a male pelvic floor specialist in regards to kicking my HF and other mental ailments, but since exploring any other routes, the idea of hypnotherapy is really standing out to me. has anyone ever done this before? i read some pretty good things, given that a lot of pelvic floor dysfunction is involuntary and subconciously controlled i am told, surely this is the key to solving it once and for all? im reading into a guy in Birmingham who is meant to be awesome and deals directly with male sexual issues as part of his therapy, but i figured he could help me with a few other things too.

let me know your thoughts and whether it would be worth a shot, its not exactly cheap but if it works what is to lose.

My understanding is that some people can be hypnotized and others can't. I've been to shows where the hypnotist asked everybody in the audience to contort their arm in an odd way and then grasp their fingers together. He said "now you are frozen" and then asked us to remove or hands from the grasp. I released my hands no problem. Many in the audience were frozen in the locked position. He chose a dozen folks from the "locked" position to come up on stage. He made them squawk like chickens and do all sorts of funny stuff. He then told them that "fire" is the code word and sent them back to their seats. He continued with his routine and at the end he said "FIRE". All the audience members who were on stage jumped to their feet and started trying to usher everyone toward the exits in a frantic panic. He then gave the safe word and they all calmed down. Never would have believed it if I didn't see it. Power over the mind.

I knew one of the guys that went up on stage and asked him afterwords about it - He had no recollection of the events that unfolded. Odd to say the least.

funny you mention the squark like chickens because every site ive been on the hypnotherapists say that is absolutely nothing like the treatment that they do, and that the way they hypnotize a patient is nothing like what is shown on the tv or performed by people on stage lol

If they can control your mind like that there is no reason that you can not learn to control your mind an emotions the same way and save yourself some money that would go to the hypnotist. Focus and be in charge. Anxiety can be defeated, you just need to want to. Anti anxiety drugs can help in the short term, but really wanting to conquer this is the attitude you need to take.

how though? i simply cant, i need this dude to do it, 30 years experience in hypnotherapy and he covers pretty much everything, he's a counsellor and psychotherapist too which helps, i toyed with the idea of asking for meds but whats the point. i've so many mental ailments that need fixing going it alone simply isnt an option, ive wanted to defeat my mind for the past 6 years, never works

There are self hypnosis videos out there for probably anything that ails you. I dabbed in ones for ED before I found the gym. Didn't really help as I was one not to fall under the spell. However, it did make me relax and pretty much zone out for a while.

Tell me, what exactly is ailing you? That is if you are willing to share.

as much as i appreciate your advice, i find it difficult to compare a self hypnosis video with a practitioner of 30 years in terms of effectiveness, particularly for the mass of things i need help with, maybe self hypnosis could be used afterwards, this is the guy i would like to see, he looks like the bees knees
