I would like to share some information about the "Gainswave" treatment. I came across an article recently stating that Dr. Richard Gaines sells a "protocol", not shockwave devices. That tells me the providers can use cheap machines that havent been clinically tested. I often see companies offer "Acoustic wave therapy" I found out recently that there is a difference between Low intensity "Focused" wave therapy, and acoustic wave therapy or pressure therapy.
The Low intensity "Focused " shockwave therapy is the legitimate type machenary that has been studied in clinical studies. Treatment protocols published to date emit an energy density of approximately 0.09 mj/mm2. Only "Focused" shock wave machenary can emit this energy density and actually stimulate vascular and tissue repair of the corpra cavernosa. Acoustic waves cant!
Regretfully, I received the "Gainswave" treatment before I did my homework. When I got the treatment , the doctor had me apply numbing cream to the penis, and the machine sounded like a jack hammer. Those are two signs that I paid several thousand dollars for " acoustic" wave therapy vs "Focused" low intensity shockwave therapy. The treatment didnt work. I believe I bought snake oil.
Both "Acoustic" wave therapy and low intensity "Focused shockwave therapy devices are FDA cleared for blood flow improvement and wound healing. But only the "Focused" shockwave therapy has been tested in clinical trials for erectile dysfunction. Many, maybe most providers are using acoustic devices and advertising it as low intensity shockwave therapy.
So questions to ask your provider
#1 is it a focused shockwave therapy device
#2 Do you need numbing cream. If the answer is yes, the device isnt legit.
#3Does the device sound like a jack hammer. If so its snake oil.
DONT GET RIPPED OFF LIKE I DID!
