  • Is there a false positive penis duplex scan? diagnosed with venous leak.

    Background:
I do light stretching every 2 or 3 days for 15 mintues.

    Positive stuff:
I get morning erections every other day.
I reach 100% erection when stimulated with lube.

    My complaint:
I cannot get erection just by looking at porn.. i have to play with my penis with lube too.
I can lose my erection when i lie on my back but i don't lose it when i'm standing or sitting.

    My scan:
The radiologist injected a drug called prostin which is a vasodilator and i did not have an erection afterwards .
    He said i was supposed to get 80 - 100 % erect but i was only 20%.
After the injection he did not massage my penis or tell me to watch porn. On the other hand, online i read that i should be massaged after the injection or watch porn to get erect, or may be take a second injection to avoid a false positive result.

    Results:
Diagnosed with venous leak with (End diastolic velocity) = 20 cm/s and resistance index = 0.67.

    Any advice?
should i repeat the test another time and watch porn during the scan? should i have Cavernosography scan which is cited to be more accurate?

Dont do anything on your own which could alter the doctor's initial findings.
My advice is get a 2nd and 3rd opinion always when it comes to any medical diagnosis. That way you will be sure, about the doctors diagnosis.

Veinous leak can be corrected with minor surgery. So i dont think recovery would take too long. Get some more opinions about how to proceed, and theres no need to worry.

I know the Doppler test for venous leak is notoriously inaccurate. Second opinion is definitely needed.

If if you get morning wood and can induce an erection that lasts at least five minutes, your venous leak, if any, would be mild and should be easily overcome with medication or injections. Ask your doc to prescribe something to see if that works. From what I have read, surgery has a high chance of failure and even if successful, tends to be ineffectual after a few years.

My doctor told me that my results are false positive because the radiologist gave me the suboptimal dose of vasodilator.
he said we can't judge venous leakage unless i have full erection. i told him i have full erections when i stimulate by hand and lube and he said then you are normal. he also mentioned that the radiologist should have given me another injection and make me watch porn to get erect and then we can judge if i have venous leakage or not. i also read a lot about false positive results online and many studies mentioned that duplex scan are famous for false positive results in venous leakage as the veins keep flowing blood backwards unless i have full erection which compresses the veins.
he said that my symptoms are completely normal because i get morning erections and full erections while masturbating.

Many actual cases of venous leak remit when testosterone is at optimal levels .

Have you had a hormone test if so what was the result.

Agreed. The cavernosogram is the gold standard for establishing blood flow route in the penis.
