  • Just over 2 years with ED... :(

    Hey guys.

Been on a hiatus from this site, but thought I'd come back for advice (and maybe some hope). Full story of my injury is in an earlier thread I started if you are interested. Long story short, I injured my penis erect jelqing at the beginning of January 2016. I've needed constant stimulation to keep an erection since. Had 2 dopplers done and both of them showed "normal hemodynamics." My EDV (indicator for venous leak) was elevated on the second test, but andrologist said this was because he injected the minimum amount of medicine possible. I want to trust him since he works for the renowned Mayo Clinic. Can supply a more detailed lab report if anyone is curious.

Really not sure where to go from here. My unit has shown minimal improvement over the past couple years and I'm feeling hopeless. Has anyone else had a similar situation to mine where recovery was eventually made? Feel like I'm beating a dead horse posting here again, but I just need some support. This isn't something I feel comfortable talking with family or friends about, so I feel alone.

Any words of advice are much appreciated, thank you.

Hi frzntundra. I think I remember your past posts. You took SSRI (Antidepressants) in the past, didn’t you?

Its ok saying that but do you know what he was taking as some of the newer ones don't have ED as a side effect.

I can’t remember... Maybe he could tell us.
The Antidepressants with those symptoms and can persist even afterward discontinuation are SSRI. The problem calls PSSD (Post SSRI sexual dysfunction)

All the meds I'm currently taking were started months after the onset of ED.

Currently on Bupropion (depression), Propanolol (anxiety), and Revatio (ED). None of these should have negative impacts on sexual function, but Revatio is supposed to help

Guess right now I'm just fixated on the reliability of the doppler US. I see many guys complain how results are inaccurate, yet 3 urologists told me it "virtually rules out" venous leak.

You seem have a few mental issues with life in general. If you didn't there would be no reason for those meds. Do you think those mental issues may be affecting your head enough to contribute to the ED?

You are wrong. Proparanolol is well known to cause impotence while you are taking it, but if you stop it the problems shouldn’t persist.
Did you take any Antidepressants before your erection problems started?

Hormone panel is the start point for investigation of ed . GET THE NUMBERS.

You have anxiety depression and porn addiction to look at before physical problems . Then you have hormone issues,

Blood flow issues often are related to hormone level.

Cusp- The mental aspect definitely kills my erections, but my ED started before the onset of my mental illnesses. They were actually a result of the ED. I am sure they are having negative impacts on my erections, but I just don't know how to be sure if it's the only issue or not.

Mark- To clarify, my doctor put me on propanolol since it has the least documented ED effect out of the few medicines I needed to go on. My andro switched my meds for a few months last year to so if that had an effect, which it did not. I did not start the depression medicine until March-April 2016 (a few months after the onset of my ED).

Pegasus- I had a full blood panel done at Mayo Clinic. I had a lab printout with all the values at the time, but don't have it handy. I do remember that they were all on the high end of normal though. Testosterone was around 700-800.

Total test is only part of the story post all the results.

Propranolol is a betabloker for high blood pressure and ed is a side effect that figures in its leaflet.
Do you remember which was the first Antidepressant (or psych-med) did you take in your life and when was it?

Hope this helps with some of you guys and his depression meds.

Fortunately, one antidepressant rarely causes sexual side effectsWellbutrin (bupropion). Wellbutrin is just as effective as the most popular class of antidepressants, the SSRIs (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, Luvox). It's nonsexual side effects are no worse, and it's unlikely to cause sexual side effects.Nov 1, 2012

Took less than a minute to find that.

For both depression and anxiety you can go over to meditation then your on no drugs, what a great way to go, you can google depression/anxiety and meditation, you find some good reading, but to get into the art of meditation find yourself a local group who will teach you the art of meditation, something you can carry through life, meditation is rated by the mayo Clinic as a very good tool for controlling depression.

If you go this way you must tell your doctor and asked to be weaned of those drugs.

Nowhard- That only works for some cases of depression unfortunately. If you have true clinical depression like myself, meditation will do next to nothing for the chemical imbalances in the brain causing mental illness. Trust me, if I didn't have to be on these drugs, I wouldn't.
