  • Complete impotence

    Hi guys,

Just a little background on my story.
So about 3 years ago, I started having issues with my libido and erections to the point they weren’t as strong and I started losing morning wood. I’m now at the point where I can’t get an erection by any means necessary!

I don’t get erections alone or with a girl, i don’t have mornin or nocturnal wood, I just can’t get erect full stop.

I’ve seen doctors and they don’t believe it’s anything. I’ve had all bloods back and they’re fine, I’m baffled to what this could be?!

    Anyone have any ideas?

      Hi Pegasus,

Don’t have the exact numbers, but from what I remember they’re as follows:
      testosterone - 31nmol
      (From a range of 8-30)
      Prolactin - 29.1
      No sign of diabetes
My urologist said everything else was of a normal range.

Every other doctors visit I’ve just been thrown viagra, although I can’t get hard on my own and don’t suffer performance anxiety.

          Thanks Pegasus!

Unfortunately I don’t get to see my doctor again for another month!

I hate how healthcare works here in the UK!

Any unique physical sensations or experiences that were outliers to your norms around the time of the 3 year onset? My impotence began with an injury and my numbers were normal too, but I'm starting to regain some function now. I was able to zero in some of the feelings around that area and find parts of my history that gave doctors an idea of what to attempt to treat. Though I do believe in cycling Viagra at night to keep the tissue healthy for almost any scenario like this.

Your hormone test seems strange what were they testing prolactin for ?

I would retest get free testosterone (by sensitive measure ) estrogen and full panel .
                Post the numbers.

                  Hi not2big,

                  Sorry I meant Cialis.
I’ve taken 5mg the last 15-20 times I’ve had sex in an 8 month period and it’s had a good result most of the time but 3-4 occasions where it’s still produced a weak erection.

                    Hi treant,

I was on an anti-depressant for a week when the symptoms started. I came off them straight away asi enjoyed sex far too much to give it up.

Erections returned but not to there full capacity once I stopped the meds. It was a lot more difficult to get hard and my sex drive lower. I still managed to get a good enough erection for sex and with porn without pills until 8 months ago. And now I can’t get one under any circumstance!

I used to drink heavily at the weekends but I’m only 25 and never heard of a 25 year old going impotent from drinking every other weekend?!

Not had any injury down there so I’m baffled as to what it is...

Apparently high prolactin can cause ED.
I don’t think they test for free testosterone in the UK, just total.

What should I ask for as obviously I do want to get this resolved.

                      Thanks Pegasus.

If that prolactin is ng /mg it seems high and high prolactin with high test is unusual and your doc should have sought specialist advice .
                        How is your thyroid?

                          I would get for a start .
I would also retest Prolactin and get a thyroid panel .

                          Post results GET THE NUMBERS.

When you get the result you will probably need a hormone specialist as this could be a complex issue . I am no expert in this area and the interactions can be complex .

The hormone specialist i went to was an overpaid halfwit. So best of luck finding a good one .

Unfortunately I won’t have the results until next month as GPs in the UK take so long to get back to you and just don’t take ED in young men seriously! I’ve suffered this issue for 2 and a half years and it’s been constantly played off as in my head!

Yeah I know it’s usually high prolactin and low T but when I question the doctor they said as prolactin was just over to not worry.
Believe me, I’m cutting a very frustrated figure right now, I just want answers! The urologist didn’t refer me to an endo as the test came back normal and my andrologist just chucked me viagra.

I have a grade 2 varicocele that they said could be causing erectile issues but I think they’re just using anything to not look into the issue further!
