  • Shockwave therapy DIY

I'm at the point that nothing works for my ED. I studied about shockwave therapy and it seems to give results to a lot of men. The problem is that it is so expensive. I can't afford the treatments so I just bought a shockwave machine and am going to administer them to myself. I'll do the first one today. I'm going to document how I do it and how they work on a blog:

[No outside links please - The Mod Team]

I hope it will help other men with ED too.

Since I can't point to the blog where I document it. I'll do it here.

    THE MACHINE
Shockwave machines range from about $1000 on the low end to $7000 and more. Most are made in China, which is always a worry since so much poorly made junk comes from there. I found this one on Alibaba, which is model SW6, made by Lingmei. With shipping and all it cost about $1200. I'm not plannng on using it on a daily basis like it would get used in a clinic, so I'm not too worried about it being a lower end model. If it doesn't work I won't be out that much. Besides therapy in a clinic would be $4000. I'm sure the doctors wouldn't like you to know that machines are available that can do what they charge you megabucks to do.

    TREATMENT PROTOCOL
The big question is what parameters to use for the treatment. I got my settings from these sources:

    So I chose:
    • Energy density .09 mJ/mm2
    • 15mm convex head
    • 3000 pulses each treatment (1000 on left shaft, 1000 on right and 500 on left crura and 500 on right crura)
    • 2 treatments a week

Here's a video showing a Dr. treating a patient. Be advised, it's a real patient and a real dick. The video not only shows you what the mysterious crura is, it's pretty clear you don't need a medical degree to perform the procedure.

One issue I've grappled with is converting the force of the device in mJ to the energy density in mJ/mm2 which varies depending on the size of the head used. The machine gives you mJ, but not mJ/mm2 for the different heads. The second source I cite above does give this information for a 15mm head: 120 MmJ is .12 mJ/mm2, and 180 Mj is .38 mJ/mm2. I've tried to figure out the math, but the relationship must not be linear and me and math have never been friends. However, by eyeballing it, 90mJ on the 15mm head ought to be about .09 mJ/mm2 which is the setting most studies used.

Yesterday I performed my first treatment. I had no ultrasound gel, nor a way to cover the treatment head. I ordered some gel, and it looks like a condom will cover the head. We will see. So, it was on bare skin. I bought some lidocaine cream to numb things, but didn't use it since it wasn't painful. Basically I slowly went up and down each side for 1000 pulses, then did 500 pulses on each side under my balls. It took less that 10 minutes, and doctors are charging about $500 for 10 minutes, wow.

How do I feel today? Well, I read one story about a guy who after one treatment popped a rod with his granny. No such luck, but you really can't expect the body to heal, and new veins to grow in 24 hours.

That is interesting, I'm signing up for this thread. I have my SW therapy booked for this month and next, it's really cheap where I live, the two I found is :
one clinic in the capital city offer it for about 250 bucks for 4 sessions
and there is an other fancy one in the rich part of the city, they charge about 1600 bucks for 4 sessions, but they have a better machine .
I gotta travel 2hours there and back every week, I go with the cheaper one first, I really hope it can help me even just a bit so I don't waste all that time and fuel and the money, even tho it's not a ton of money. If it works I'm gonna consider buying one for not more than 2k.
Are you taking any supplements that could enhance the effectiveness of the treatment ?

You mean Ben Greenfield, that MensHealth journo guy ? I've heard about PRP/P-shot and shockwave from that guy.

              I've got a venous leak.
The story was that this guy had one treatment, took his grandmother to dinner, and had a spontaneous erection in the restaurant.

EDTreatment on dailystrength.org gave me a suggestion for quantifying whether the treatments are working. It is the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) that a lot of medical studies use to evaluate their outcomes. You can find it online. I went to take it and am a little confused about how to answer. For example, the first question is: "How often were you able to get an erection during sexual activity?" Well, does that mean with or without my little helpers like Viagra, vacuum devices, or trimix injections? My erectile function score without helpers would be 6/30. But, since they allow me to get some degree of stiffness, my erectile function score for the last 4 weeks is 21/30.

The thing is, I don't believe that my goal is to get a score better than 21/30, but to get it without the problems my untrustworthy helpers bring. For example, my vacuum device and penis ring get me hard, but after a while, even with two of the smallest, tightest rings I could find, it can still start going soft. You're only supposed to keep the rings on for 30 minutes, but I find that after about 15 my favorite body part starts to get numb. When that happens, what's the point? The other problem is trimix. It usually kicks in really well at first, then peters out and I have to use the penis pump to finish the job.

So yes, I have used them to keep my sex life alive, but every lovemaking session is always an experimental trial of a new ring size, or different dosage of trimix, etc. What I want is to make love to my wife without worrying about all the freaking devices, and whether they are going to work or not, or whether I should have waited longer, or taken a higher dosage. I detest the distracting thoughts about whether they are going to work, and what I may need to do if they don't. I want to just focus on celebrating my relationship with my wife.

The one I got for about $1000 sells for up to $2300.

I take no supplements for ED.

How extensive is it? Have you attempted to mitigate it with kegels (which have been shown in studies to be effective at treating venous leaks- see: Medical study on Kegels vs ED & venous leaks) or the use of supplements like Butcher's Broom?

There was a time I did lot's of kegels. I saw no effect. I haven't heard of butcher's broom, Are there any studies where its shown effective for ED not just chronic venous insufficiency? I'm not sure they are the same thing.

Were you able to perform your kegels with any degree of erection?

Sufficiency refers to improved quality, so if you're suffering from venous leaks there's no reason to believe Butcher's Broom shouldn't be helpful. It's a relatively inexpensive supplement, so trying it shouldn't be an issue.

Here's a couple of studies which refer to BB (Ruscogenin) as assisting in a venous capacity:

                        https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5003556/

No, they were done without an erection. Thanks for the links to the studies. I wish there were something addressing butcher's broom and ED specifically.

                            First signs it's working

Six days and 3 treatments into it I saw some results. Normally during oral sex and without using any helpers I only get about a 25% erection. Last night, for the first few minutes it was at about 75%. My wife noticed it as well. I really didn't expect to see anything for a few weeks.
