  • Basically nofap/lack of sexual activity can cause ED ?

So I was searching for a few months something that might indicate if abstience is good or bad. NoFap users swear by it's benefits, yet I wondered if abstinence can somehow diminish the sex hormones/weaken the erections, and I found this :

    https://www.webmd.com/erectile-dysfu...t-or-lose-it#1

I don't know what to believe anymore. Is abstience rebooting the penis or actually causing ED and low quality sex ?

I've seen that article. It's based on one study, which I've also read. Many urologists have pointed out problems with the study design. They say the men who reported less intercourse may have still engaged in masturbation. And those same men may have had less intercourse over time due to non-associated ED onset after the study began. So, it's not agreed that more intercourse leads to less ED. My team ignored that study for those reasons when we assessed a men's health product a few years back.

HOWEVER, it is widely accepted that more frequent erections (even night erections) promote good penis health and can help stave off ED. See, boners are good for more than one thing!

Never been a fan of Nofap I don't understand how it gained traction. Now no porn is a different matter.

The Nofap people claim gains in testosterone level with nofap. This is based on a single small Japanese study that showed some increase in the first week . Yes thats right for 7 days not 90.
The claim of improvement are often about wooly things like they feel more mental clarity or the like . Not physicaly testable results.

Testosterone levels peak at 7 days, then goes back down to baseline. You will have better EQ ejaculating every 8th day because testosterone levels go back up after ejaculation. Whenever I abstain for 10+ days, my libido crashes. In order to not have my libido crash, i need to edge just about every day. The saying, "use it or lose it" comes to mind.

The point of nofap is so you stop relying on your hand and porn to get off and instead, go outside and find a woman.

With Nofap people talk about porn and fap as though you can't have one without the other lol.

The mental effects are often discussed by nofap guys but it really is hard even for this to seperate porn from fap in their context.

That's because masturbation is typically associated with porn use. The only places where it's not, are forums like these. Therefore the generalization is that if you are masturbating, you are more than likely watching porn. Which is almost always the case.

                Um no .
Quite frankly porn in many places had limited availibility until recent times . Countlees generations grew up without the sort of porn use you see today. Even today I find it hard to believe it's use is as widespread as some mskeout.

There's nothing wrong with abstaining for targeted purposes, but if your goal is sexual proficiency then how would you expect to gain or even maintain if you abstained for long periods of time? The refrain "use it or lose it" applies to the genitals and all muscles, organs, etc. associated with poroper sexual functioning.

You do know that nofap started in 2011 right? Not everyone here is as ancient as you.
The first form of porn was a book in ~1750, then was viewable on television in the 80's. Internet porn took off a few decades after that. That is why nofap often associates masturbation with porn. Porn originated on the other side of the planet, and it's more widespread than you make out.

In the 80's the US version of playboy was regarded as too hardcore for australia so they had a seperate version . That seperate version was regarded as too hardcore in my state which sold a watered down version. Mere availability of porn does not mean everyone uses it even if it is common in your circle.
You got any sTATS ON ACTUAL USAGE OF HARDCORE PORN ? I must admit I don't but I am interested.

Thing is, where do you draw the line between hardcore/softcore/innocent?

Like I'm surely not the only guy here who's had a Facebook wank to nice pictures when a girl posts them? Just me?

This is actually a good point . It seems to be the hardcore porn that causes the damage . The porn induced ed thing seems recent and driven by guys chasing ever harder and weirder porn.
