  • Treatment Plan for my mild Venous Leak

    Hi all,

Some of you have probably seen my previous post on my diagnosed VL but for those that haven't, just briefly, I was diagnosed with a mild case of Venous Leak (VL) recently. I can achieve a good erection but it goes down quickly without stimulation. I'd say about 10 seconds. Luckily I can have good sex and keep it up indefinitely, as long as it's being stimulated.

I went to the Urology team at Kings in London and they prescribed me 20mg of Cialis, once a week, for a month. I did this and it did noticeable improve my EQ in that I could maintain them longer, I'm not sure how much longer, with cialis.

I went back a few days ago and the doc was very happy to see it had had an effect and then advised the following: Take 5mg of Cialis, once a day for 4 months. I'm not sure what the goal is but I will do this.

What do you think the goal is? To get it back to normal?

Does VL usually get worse? I asked the doctor and she said no, not usually. I really hope this is the case.

Hope everyone is achieving their goals and improving!

    Luke!

@luke: please update us after you finished cialis treatment and if you really got cured. the cialis website says:

      CIALIS does not:
      cure ED
      increase a man's sexual desire
protect a man or his partner from sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV
serve as a male form of birth control

i do have the same symptoms like yours. i also suspect VL.

Cialis, Viagra, and Lavitra Are sometimes used to improve ED. The erections induced by the drugs forces more oxygen into the damaged tissue than your weak erections, which can have a theraputic effect on the damaged tissue. Daily Cialis is the most often used therapy because it lasts for up to 36 hours and can have a cumulative effect.

Have you had a sonogram done of your penis? (look up cavernosogram or something to that effect). That maybe able to spot any dilated or varicose penile veins that are causing the problem. If that's the case, you can get ligation done (as a last resort).

                Sorry if Im hi-jacking thread.

I wonder why she told you to take 20mg once a week, for a month? Then to follow with 5mg every day?

My doctor (my countrys top renowned "penis doctor") asked me to take half a 10mg (5mg) cialis every other day for a month to begin with. Then look for improvement, and find out if we go for sonogram or not.

Cialis every day gave me severe back-pain. So we chose to make it every other day. He also left me a prescription for lavitra, to take every day in case back-pain didnt cease.

Whats the best medication for this "treatment".? Relaxening spongy-tissue, increasing bloodflow, was the effects I believe he mentioned. Should I stop Cialis since Im on such a low dose and go for levitra. Not2bigs point seems valid regarding the 36 hours.

I can't talk with my doctor. He's away, and quite expensive. I need to find the best solution for me.

To OP, my dorsal vein is varicose, and even if my doctor said it was usual (he didnt get a good look at that though) I believe its the cause of my problem. Litigation surgery sounds pretty serious to me. Doesnt sound like treating the cause to me. I mean, something must be the cause of it all...

Any dorsal vein irregularities for you?

This is not to be considered a recommendation, but since I started using Trimix injections four months ago, my non Trimix erections have gotten stronger. My uro advised that this is a result of the strong Trimix erections bringing in more oxygenated blood into the damaged tissue. Similar but more intense than the daily Cialis therapy. In fact, Trimix is often advocated for patients recovering from prostate surgery to get their erections up and running.

I had a mild VL as well. It turns out that several emissary veins at the base (side right next to spermatic cord bundle) were varicosed (varicocele is the term for varicose veins in this region). I have been diligent about taking non-prescription vaso-dilators (ginkgo, ginseng, garlic, etc) and taking daily contrast showers making sure to put the area there through a complete temp cycle several times when I shower. Contrast showers seem to give the smooth muscle of the veins a workout. They relax under warm-hot water and then are shock-contracted by a hit of cold water. Over time I have improved the staying power of my erections. I also eat a strict diet that promotes high testosterone levels so I can't say which (or both) have contributed to my improved erections.

There aren't many known treatments for varicocele other then what your specialist has prescribed. Generally if you're in good health and exercise they should heal themselves (but that's not a guarantee).
