  • Erectile Dysfunction and frequent urination for the past 9 years...

    Hi,

I am a 28-year-old, reasonably healthy, average weight, male. When I was 19, I began urinating very frequently. I'm a happy person with no unusual amount of stress or depression in my life. I am very secure and generally relaxed. Therefore, I believe that this is a physical issue rather than a mental issue. A matter of months later, I began noticing weaker erections. Over the years, the erection situation has gotten gradually worse. At this point, I barely ever get random erections anymore. When I do get them, they are probably about 30% erect and I release a lot of precum which causes this 30% erection to subside after about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

My strong erection, at this point, is probably about 65%-70%. It is hard, but barely. Again, I begin to precum quickly as a result and the erection goes, or at least reduces in size, quickly. I can only acheive this 65% erection by masturbating, or occasionally it arises during my sleep. I often lose my erection during sex. The urination situation seems to have stayed the same, it hasn't become any more or less frequent.

During my early 20s, I visited a number or urologists and had a number of tests conducted. They were able to determine that I was indeed urinating before my bladder was full, but they were unable to figure out why. My prostate seemed healthy, and so did my bladder. Also, I had a colonoscopy years ago that was unable to be completed because there was a sharp bend in one of my intestines and it was too tense for the tube to get through. (sorry for that HORRIBLE explanation, I didn't even completely understand it when it was told to me.) The doctor reccomended biofeedback therapy, but the doctor I was referred to didn't perform the type of biofeedback therapy that I needed. Soon after, I lost my insurance and was unable to seek other doctors.

One of the doctors I had visited was specifically for the erectile dysfunction. He gave my penis an injection to test it, and it went up to it's regular 70% maximum. The doctor said that it didn't seem to be a full erection but that it was good enough, and he prescribed me Cialis. The Cialis did almost absolutely nothing besides causing me to get very weak erections for long durations of time, which leads me to believe that there is a nerve issue rather than a blood flow issue, but I'm not sure.

About 7 years ago, I found a website which led me to believe that this issue may have been caused my frequent masturbation. I forget the name of the site, but the "doctor" who ran it was named Dr. Lin. I'm still not sure if he was legit or not, but I ordered his vitamins anyway because i was willing to try anything. By combining the pills with abstainance from masturbation, I was able to acheive full erections after about a week. It was almost exactly as it was before I began experiencing these problems. Once I would masturbate, however, it would take another weak for be to be able to acheive a full erection again. Foolishly, I went back to my previous masturbation habits (a couple of times per day) and re-ordered the pills about a year later. This time, the abstaining combined with the pills did not restore my erections again. I tried abstaining for 2 months, and nothing. I don't know if it is the continued frequent masturbation that caused this, or if my underlying problem had simply advanced to the point where abstaining from masturbation combined with vitamins were no longer able to provide temporarily relief.

Another detail is that I began experiencing reduced sensation in my penis when I was about 17 (two years before the serious issues began.) I still have not regained full sensation. I'm not sure if this is related, but I figured that I should note it. I believe the reduced sensation was due to frequent masturbation.

One more thing I should mention is that I have a moderate anterior pelvic tilt. I have been doing stretches and exercises to try to correct this, but I'm not sure if it is completely correctable. Nor am I sure that it has anything at all to do with my issues.

Over the years of having this problem, I have come to terms that this may be permanent. I realize that I may never have a normal sex life, and I've accepted this possibility. There are worse things in life than going without sex, and I can lead a happy life without it. However, I still do have a strong desire to be restored in this area if it is at all possible.

I apologize if the description of the history of my problem was somewhat scattered, I wanted to include all of the major details and it is hard to decide what order to go in. I understand that each individual person is different, but I am hoping that there is someone here who has experienced or seen problems similar to mine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This sounds more a medical issue but I would start kegels.

I'm sorry to hear about this, forumuser. I can identify with some parts of your account myself but cannot offer any quick solutions, unfortunately.

All I know is that there is a definite correlation between urination and sexual function. This has been confirmed time and again via tales such as yours and, more often than not, the docs are at a total loss to explain what is happening. I have also seen a number of urologists over the years but, after running all the routine tests, they can do little more than tell me what I haven't got!

Personally, I think it could be a prostate issue. This is a mysterious little organ about which the medical profession knows very little, truth be told, but it's responsible for any number of malfunctions in the genital area and penile numbness is often associated with it. I've spent a lot of time on prostate forums and it seems that no two sufferers ever present the exact same symptoms but there are some common denominators and your case ticks a few of these boxes.

Do you have a reduced urine flow by the way? I know you mentioned the frequency but if it's also less forceful then this would tend to further implicate the prostate. Amongst suggestions I would make (based on personal success) are Kegel exercises and a radical change of diet, possibly beginning with a short fast. I don't think abstaining from masturbation makes a great deal of difference one way or the other TBH, although others may disagree with me here.

I hope at least some of this advice is useful to you.

Thank you for responding and helping, pegasus and needalift. I haven't tried kegels before, but I will begin a routine immediately.

The advice is very useful to me, needingalift. Thank you. Not knowing a whole lot about prostate issues, I simply took the doctors' word for it when they said that there was nothing wrong with my prostate, without ever having taken into consideration that they could be mistaken regarding this aspect. My urine flow has certainly become weak. Though the stream is steady and consistent, and my bladder does always empty completely, it still doesn't have nearly the force to it that it did previously. Also, I'm sorry to hear that you can identify with some of my experiences, it is a frustrating ordeal.

How much Cialis were you prescribed? You might want to check back in with Uroligist and see if you can get a free sample of a larger dose of Cialis or try switching to Viagra. Some guys react differently to the different medications. While you are there, you should have the doc explain how Trimix injections work.

Hi Forumuser-- Are accounts are very similar. My erectile problems began at age 25 and I thought they were due to masturbation. So I quit masturbating and the sensitivity in my penis only moderately improved but not enough to sustain a good erection for sex. I am 38 now--Viagra, Cialis, Levitra have all failed miserably, but finally I think I've found something that works. A urologist prescribed me a drug for my frequent urination. It's called Flomax and is supposed to regulate the prostate and urination. The first night I took it (last week) I had an erection for hours on end and my constant urination stopped. Since then I've had nightly erections and sustained sex with relatively little issue. So I believe there is definitely a correlation between urination and erectile function, at least in certain individuals. Give it a try-- I'm curious to find out how it works for others. Good luck.

Did you ever have any muscle spasms in your perinieum or genital area? I have suffered the same symptom of loss of sensation and it was almost immediately following a muscle spasm in my taint area, which always seemed to happen after a day of excessive masturbation (4+ times in a day, normally i do 1, 2 max)

This spasm happened again a few months later , further reducing sensitivity. now due to how little there is on the internet about anything to due with this, and doctors generally being clueless (my urologist also said hes never heard of lack of sensation from pelvic tension) I have found one source on the internet which says that and im quoting :

"The muscles of the pelvic floor are essential to healthy sexual function. "In women and men, the pelvic floor is an active sexual organ." [1]. Its role in sexual dysfunction, however, is often underestimated or overlooked. Maintaining good muscle tone and the ability to fully contract and relax these muscles improves sexual functioning and and enhances the perception of pleasure. Conversely, chronic tension or persistent weakness can lead to dysfunction and pain, as well as a diminished sensory experience and lack of sexual feelings"

                Source:
                http://www.malepelvicfloor.com/sd.html

That last line I bolded is pretty much the only place Ive ever seen that mentioned on the internet, however the guy who wrote it sourced about 10+ different books hes read dedicated entirely to pelvic floor issues and health, So im inclined to beleive this guy knows what hes talking about. And from personal experience, my perception of sensation and pleasure over the last few months has gone up and down with direct corelation to how relaxed and well my pelvic floor is function. more relaxed and lower resting position pelvic floor = more sensation, for me personally. after masturbating and lots of tension = much less sensation though i think to get to this stage requires years of tension and improper balance before it finally spasms, which results in part of the internal pelvic floor having a tender muscle knot that needs working. I had issues with urinating and generally felt something was off about my penis for about 4-5 years before I had one of these muscle spasms resulting in loss of sensation.

I have done internal self anal massage a looking for these sore spots, which I have found does provide releief, but like anything, requires consistancy and persistence. i also have a pelvic floor therapist, which helped with this greatly.

Well hells bells. I wish someone would email him to see how he's doin. Someone back then he would recognize.
A prayer, is kinda the same as a "Like". If there are enough likes, God will take notice. So "Like" away please. My daughter needs your prayers. Thank You.

                      Yes seenagin it may .

I have seen this a number of times and it seems to be a little known but not uncommon issue in eq and ed problems.

It can be treated with the methods commonly used to relax the pelvic floor which are found in the pre e forum . The ideal answer though is a pelvic floor therapist such as you have found.

Your symptoms are consistent with weak pelvic area and or low estrogen/testosterone.

Did you ever check your estrogen and testosterone levels?

I have some similar problems as you, which were hormonol and started at the age of 15 or 16.
Life struggle with extreme erectile dysfunction since I was 15. Diagnosed with venous leak. When I turned 30-years old, I found out I had hypogonadism (low testosterone) and sub-clinical hypothyroidism. TRT can be a cure for venous leak if you are hypogonadal.
