    Why porn addicts can't get a decent erection?

    How an erection occurs

    The brain sends a signal down a particular nerve fiber. This nerve fiber ends in a nerve cell in an artery, somewhere near the point where blood flow needs to change. Local superficial nerves can also be stimulated to cause the same effect.
    These nerve cells -- called nonadrenergic-noncholinergic, or NANC -- produce nitric oxide and inject it into the blood and surrounding cells.
    The nitric oxide stimulates an enzyme (guanylate cyclase) in nearby cells that starts producing a chemical called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP).
    cGMP tells smooth muscles that line an artery to relax. When they relax, blood flow increases.
    This allows extra blood to flood into the penis. The rapid inflow of blood causes the penis to swell into an erection. The swollen inner part of the penis also presses on the veins nearer to the skin surface of the penis. These veins normally drain the penis of blood. So, the flow of blood out of the penis is also restricted, which enhances the erection.
    There is one final part to this chemical machine: Another enzyme, called phosphodiesterase (PDE), is deactivating the cGMP all the while.
    cGMP is produced as long as the brain is sending messages down the nerve fibers in the artery. When the brain stops sending the signal, all of the cGMP goes away because PDE is deactivating it. This is how the brain turns valves on and off whenever it wants to.

    How can porn mess with your erections
    If I have to summarize the whole erection process, I would say:
    1-stimulation
    2-More nitric oxide
    3-More cGMP
    4-Less PDE

    Those are the main reasons an erection occurs. By watching porn, and being subject to so much erotica, you are desensitizing your brain; which is the biggest sex organ in your body. You no longer deem many things THAT stimulating. You are messing with the #1 cause of erection, which is stimulation. The more stimulated you are, the more nitric oxide is produced and consequently more cGMP is engendered. That is the best way to maintain an erection. This way, unlike with pills, your erection level is an accurate barometer of your stimulation. Girls love that. With pills, they can't tell how excited you are based on your erection.

    How the blue pill works
    The blue pill inhibits PDE. This means with only a modicum of stimulation, cGMP can build up and there won't be enough PDE to counteract it. Your brain will become lazy and won't make an effort to create more stimulation or balance the cGMP/PDE naturally. You will not be able to get a decent erection if you wean yourself off the pill.

    How can you naturally get a better erection without pills or supplements?
    The answer is, more stimulation. You have to reboot your mind and make it horny again. Make it so that it gets aroused by the sight of a woman's neck, her ankles, her hair, her lips, her smell... not just her ass and titties. You should be able to get a hard on just by smelling her hair. When you masturbate, you should use as little stimulation as possible. That's why I love ballooning. A light grip, gentle touch, and only caress it as necessary. Your goal should be to keep it as hard as you can for as long as you can with as little stimulation as possible.

    Rebooting your mind
    For 90 days, don't watch porn, don't fantasize sexually, don't stare at hot girls and check out their asses, Don't masturbate but if you can't help it and you do don't beat yourself up about it just try harder next time, and don't do anything that's in any way arousing. The porn part however, you should ditch forever. After your reboot period is over you can start edging, fantasizing and looking at hot chicks and checking out their asses.
    Remember, 90 days is a small price to pay for a lifelong better sexual satisfaction.

    I hope this helps those with porn addiction to throw the habit away for good. I had posted this before but thought it would be better to give it a separate thread.

    90 days of no porn, no touchy the wee wee, and no checking out women? Or even fantasizing? Is that even possible? Sounds like hell on earth to me.

            I remember when I was in military service, there were no women and whenever we used to come to town I would get a boner just by looking at a girl walking down the street. Unfortunately we are being bombarded by erotic stuff everyday and it affects how much we enjoy sex.

                  There seems to be a very dualistic approach to most things nowadays- either "indulge" or "refrain". With either approach, there are often side effects.

                  "Refraining" for very long periods (especially if you haven't prepared yourself for it) can cause you to feel deprived- which can lead to "indulgence" if you fall off the wagon. By abstaining from all activity you might inadvertently achieve a "detraining" effect (use it or lose it).

                  Indulgence for any appreciable length of time leads to a lack of discipline and strength, and a high potential for addiction and other very unpleasant scenarios.

                  How about an option that transcends both: "mastery".

                  Learn to MASTER yourself- your penis, your sexual impulses, your reactions to impending situations that may potentially induce anxiety, and the like; and you'll be able to rise above the addictions and influences.

                  This will involve getting to the root of what ails you first- namely taming your ego and dealing with fear/feelings of inadequacy. It might be one of the hardest things that you can do, but the alternatives are endless battles with yourself over attempting to create false "balances" that only result in temporary peace with yourself.

                      You're right. it is too extreme. Mastery, I like that term. There's a lot of talk about reversing the effects of porn on the mind, but this is the first time I've read this. Can you elaborate about what you exactly mean by mastery here?

                          That is a good question

                          Mastery is when you strengthen yourself to where you are not only able to resist impulses, but where the understanding of "why" you get those impulses becomes so ingrained that it's no longer a challenge to do so.

                          In a more complex but very real sense, it's like attempting to tame a wild beast. With the dualistic option. you either allow your "beast" to do whatever it likes (indulge), or "punish" or cage your beast (refrain). The other option is to "break" or "tame" it and bring it under your control (mastery).

                          Once you've mastered yourself, you'll learn that there are times where you can "indulge"- and do so in a way that's completely unfettered because you're no longer encumbered by fear. If you are able to have a sexual encounter and completely "let go", you'll know to what I'm referring to.

                          Also, if you need to refrain (e.g.- avoid porn, be faithful to your significant other when temptation presents itself, not masturbate due to health or situations, etc.) then you can do that as well without the feeling of deprivation or constant impulse.
