I've posted previously on a similar line, apologies if this is duplicating anything but would love some opinion.
I have not been able to achieve erections that are hard and sustained enough for intercourse. This has lasted for around two years now.
The docs have done all sorts of tests - I think the only thing that has not been checked now is for venous leak.
I wondered if it was feasible that psychological ED could last this long and could it really stop me getting morning wood?
The docs definitely think it is psychological, but it seems odd that I would NEVER get a proper erection over 2 years...

Absolutely it can last a life time. What is bothering you? Our minds are in control of our bodies even while we sleep.

It never hurts to talk to a therapist when you have problems you need to work through, it doesn't have to be something major, they can always help you. You could probably find one in your area that accepts your health insurance so it might not even cost you anything.
It also might help your psychological factors if you're working on your physical fitness, stretches or light jelqing can be done even if you're not getting completely hard and can only help you. And kegels of course.

On what basis / studies people claim that psychological ED blocks nocturnal erections? That should not be the case, not for 2 years at least. Mental ED can be difficult but there are always clues that indicate wether it really is psychological or at least partially organic. I have never read of anyone having complete impotence for 2 years without any organic cause and then being able to fully recover from it.
The cause does not have to be venous leak, it can also be venous insufficiency. If you have not once in the last 2 years been able to gain and maintain a rigid erection without the help of pills, then it does suggest a physical issue. Besides doppler, you should also do full blood work to rule out hormonal issues.
Going to a gp or even an urologist in this situation can be waste of time, you need to seek a doc that specializes in ED.

Thanks for the replies.
I have been suffering from depression for around two years now. I had some limited counceling, which I had to cease due to a move. No medication.
A psychologist suggested (right near the start of all this), that it my brain could be shutting me down as soon as it comes into consciousness and that I might never realise that I have a full erection at night.
It seems plausible, but odd that I would never achieve a full erection in two years - only ever semi (i.e. not hard enough for sex)...
I am in panic mode at the moment, worried I have venous leak, or have caused lasting damage after years of indulging alcohol a bit too often.

Have you tried doing any Penis exercises? It has done so much for me as far as erection level.

I don't have my results, but I did one test that suggested my T was low. That of course made me believe I had testosterone issues, but I have had 2 or 3 subsequent tests and they have all been above 'average'.
Same with Thyroid - I had a test which suggested it looked like this was an issue, but two tests later, it is fine.
Really, the only things I have not ruled out now, are venous leak or some kind of nerve issue/damage.

I have not. I came to this site for this particular forum, rather than the exercise stuff - where is a good place to start / where did you start?
