Hey Guys -
I need to lose at least 30 pounds, maybe even 55. I don't really know what I am "supposed" to weight, but according to BMI calculators, which some say are old, outdated, and irrelevant, for 5' 10'' - I should weight approx 175. I currently weigh 230.
For me to weight 175 - seems really light to me. I seem to have a "Fred Flinstone" type body - even when I do slim down -- not sure if it's my bone structure, but I just seem to be a heavier 5' 10'' person, despite the current fat.
Anyway - my next goal is 200lbs (30 lbs loss) and after that - I would like to hit 180 (50 lbs. total loss). To get me started - I am going to do an experiement, and wouldn't mind your opinions on it.
For 30 says (nearly consecutive -- I have a few vacation days coming up, so those won't count) - I am going to run 3K - every single day. There is a path near my house that is marked off at exacly 3K. Here are my simple rules to the experiment.
1. 3K run will be everyday, and the days will be consecutive as possible, however, I won't freak out if I skip a day, and will simply resume the next day.
2. I will somewhat try to reduce sugar and fat in take, but not overly focuses on that during this experiment.
3. I will stop watch every run - in an effort to also see how fast I can increase my time within the 30 days.
I think that's it. This is based on the fact that - in 2005 I kept a journal of my gym routines. Over a period of 3 months (90 days) I went to the gym 30 times, and lost 40lbs. All the while - I ate whatever I wanted, and in fact, most days I had labelled (bad diet day) because I had been eating pizza, chinese food, BBQ, etc. regardless of working out. So -- therefore.... in 2005, when I lost 40 lbs. - it was only within the actually 30 days I really went. Yes - I know rest is important, but I think that is more so with weight lifting. As I understand it - you can do cardio every day if you wish.
Anyway - feel free to chime in on this. Anyone else want to join me? We can keep a journal on this thread, and try to synconize our progress / daily logs.July 2009: BPEL = 6" EG = 4.5" FL= 2.75"

I don't know how you can lose weight by eating whatever you want and running less than 2 miles a day but as you mention it is an experiment so ... goodluck I guess.
I am skepical your results will be that great. If you want to lose weight the number one most important thing is your diet.
If you want to lose weight and keep it off you have to change your dietary habits forever.
Goodluck and ... we'll be watching

Portion control; that's the key. Eat the same if you must, but eat less of it at each meal.

good luck bro , but honestly hit the weights or you will look skinny when your done ... if you hit the weights the fat will come off faster and you will look better in the end ( just my 2 cents )

Getting rid of excess fat isn't that hard. Once you are in a routine it just sheds. Getting rid of the remaining fat close the abs is the hardest part and where I am stuck at. If this goes the abs show and its hard.
