I am also astonished at how little fair and balanced news coverage of the North Carolina FIRE BOMBING of the GOP Headquarters or the Brick Throwing vandalism of another GOP Headquarters!

If that had happened to a DEMOCRATIC HQ the SKY Would be Falling and would be considered an act of “political terrorism.”

I don't really come here much anymore, but th other forum I use is full of Hillary's paid cronies and I wanted to hear the opinions of actual people. This debate was shameful, let's not sugar coat it. Both of the candidates made me feel ashamed of being American. What happened with us? This is not the America that my grand parents fought for. When did we become the kind of America where two adults supposedly representing us stand on stage, in front of the nation and even the world, and spew childish vitriol at each other? How did we get so low?

We had such humble origin. We were a collective of people trying to escape tyranny. We just wanted to have our own lives, our own families, and to more or less be left alone. We chose to sacrifice the security of the greatest world superpower for the tranquility of being able to choose our own life and our own God.

What happened to decency? What happened to personal responsibility? Leaders used to be men of great regard. Now we have a trashy reality show host running against one of the most crooked politicians to ever live. Where are the Churchills? The Franklins? The Washingtons and Jeffersons? When did money become more important than liberty? And when did turning a blind eye to the reality of our circumstances become a virtue?

I had convinced myself that I had to pick the lesser of two evils. But why are we left with that choice? America, historically, has the greatest achievements the world has ever seen. We put a man on the moon. We have fought battles that have saved the course of history from a horrible fate. We have paved the way of religious freedom, and a government selected for the people, by the people. We can't find two human beings, within our massive population, that represent our rich and beautiful history and that will represent us with grace and dignity?

Tonight, the reality finally set in for me. Regardless of which of these two fools wins, the America I was raised by my grand father (severly wounded wwII vet) to believe in either no longer exists, or never really did to begin with.

In general, I agree with almost all of this. But on the other hand, govt can do a lot to screw someones life up and make it harder for them. A lot of people lost good paying jobs because of NAFTA. But then again the greedy unions and union members are to blame as well.

My personal view is that I do not want govt to hand me a good life, I simply want them OUT of my life.

They aren't in my life at all. I pay my taxes and that's that. Aside from getting these hot damned parking tickets at the train station, me and govt don't even speak.

Obviously there lots of things the government could do better, or not at all. But the Country is evolving, the world is evolving, and the economy is evolving. We are in the age of technology and it's becoming harder to live a comfortable life without an education or some kind of training. I hear talk of vocational schools to get people into the trades. But then they want to bust the Unions up so instead of making respectable salary with a pension, they have to work for shit wages with no benefits. Try to buy a decent house making $20/hr in Chicago.
The only people that benefit from that are the rich construction companies.

It just comes down to what are you worth. What do you know how to do that others don't. If you don't have the knowledge and skills to get a good paying job, then that's on you. Or you can flip burgers and complain about Obamacare because you work for an employer that doesn't provide health insurance.

Why does an electrician need to be in a union to make a good wage? I know many not in the unions who make lots of money as well as plumbers, carpenters, car mechanics etc. If you are good at what you do then you will make money.

My buddy works for Verizon to repair things and he's part of the union. He likes to work. They switch him as they do all the repair guys every 3 months so all the guys know the territory. The managers love when they get him because he gets 9-10 jobs done per day because he doesn't sit around.The average guy,protected by the union,does 4 a day. Why doesn't my friend make more money than the guys who do less? The union says so. Why aren't the guys doing 4 jobs day doing more which will help the company and the country as we all get more productive?

You sort of missed the point I was making, in that when I do something dumb people call me out on it, which is the help you are referring to. I was literally saying that people help me by telling me I'm a dumb fuck when doing something asshat dumb, that was the point. That is thanking them, for not letting me do something fucking stupid, not sure how you took it as me insulting you or them. In addition you can still look down on someone and help them, that's kind of what most do with the homeless.

Just because someone helps you doesn't mean you can't call them out on something later. If someone helps me by driving me to the hospital doesn't mean I can't tell them they are dumb like when they drink and drive. That's the entire point of calling someone out, to make sure they don't do what is obviously wrong or stop doing what is stupid.

Now as for the calling out stupid shit, one man said it it very nicely; judge not lest you be judged.

And if one judges themselves constantly would that not mean they can judge others? Also, wouldn't you judging the choice I made by calling a group of people dumb be "be judged"? We are literally judging each other and our points in this debate, so wouldn't that mean we could judge each other?
