It was a Schwinn. Used it to deliver newspapers, 7 days a week.

Mine was a real beauty. Candy apple red, banana seat 3 foot sissy bar in the back. Baseball cards clothes pinned to the spokes. It was FINE! THEN MY BROTHER BURNED DOWN THE GARAGE.

Raleigh Chopper (although an appropriate bike for this forum - the position of the gears was probably the source of multiple injuries for loads of kids. I know I rattled the jewels a few times, sliding off the seat! )

Then after my brother burned it down I got a 1942 model skip chain out of the dump. Learned to fix it and road that thing for years. I never did figure out a good way to stop it from clanging. I think I would have needed a welder. Damn thing whether more than I did. Barely get up hills, but going down hill look out. I had it for almost 2 years before I could sit on the seat.

I don't remember my first bike. I remember my friends and I goin down to the annual police bike auction of unclaimed, presumed stolen. We all bought a bike for about 5 bucks and had a bike demolition rally between the 8 or so of us. Pretty fun.
