Get the vaccine that normally would have taken years but through Trumps effort we have a couple in record time. Thanks Mr. President.

unless 75 percent of the population gets it this pandemic is just going to grind on and on.
What data do you base this assertion on? I'd like to see how you came to that conclusion.
    The medical community understands this
In fact, there are many in the medical community who have refused to take the vaccine. I think you're world view is pretty narrow.
act like a someone that cares about democracy, the planet and your fellow citizens.
Do you think that the governors and mayors who have been ordering people into lockdown, mandating mask wearing, closing businesses, are examples of people who care about democracy? Or do they appear to be acting more like tyrants? Does caring about your fellow citizens include supporting putting millions of people out of work, causing them to lose the business they've built and will never be able to return to, preventing children from going to school, keeping families apart, prohibiting tens of thousands of people from seeking treatment they need for cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses? All of this because of a virus with an incredibly high survival rate.

I am not interested in a back and forth about these issues. The accurate information is all out there as far as how disease spread and what it takes for herd immunity as opposed to "herd mentality" There is substantial medical and scientic illiteracy manifest right now in our Q anon world. Ask me also what my facts are that the world is in fact round. Some thing have actually already been proven and epidemiologist understand how viruses work. Unfortunately public health is at loggerheads with capitalism and people's livelihood. But I think it can't be argued that dead people can't run businesses and it is not the best business practice to endanger, sicken or kill your customers. If everyone does their part and participates in communal sacrifice we will get through this to a better time. If people persist in conspiracy theories and baseless claims this will drag on. That is one of the lessons that history has already taught us 1918 pandemic.

Can you tell me what communal sacrifice Target and Walmart have made? What sacrifice have the people who still were able to work made? I know the people that aren't allowed to work have made great sacrifices but I really don't see the sacrifice made by people who were allowed to work because some fool deemed them essential.
So the only dead people only become dead because they went to a small store or diner but it they had gone to Target they would still be alive today. Got it.

Can you also describe the sacrifices being made by the health authorities and politicians who are demanding lockdowns? I mean.... we're all in this together, right?

No we are not in this together. We are using a virus to reshape the economy and country. The big guys will survive and the small ones will become government dependent.

OK. So the information is out there but you can't produce any of it to substantiate your assertions? Show me that there is a continuation of a pandemic and that the only way to stop it is for 75% of the population to be vaccinated. Can you show me those two things or is this simply a case where feels trump science?

To say that we have to make a choice between public health and people's livelihoods is being completely blind to the facts and data.

I will concede to your strong agruments. Well stated. Personal responsibility is i guess an outdated idea we should all just focus on conspiracies and finger pointing. That is surely the best way out of this mess. Who needs science and data and character anyway right guys.

Science told us to stay inside. Science, Fauci told us in January that Americans need not worry about this virus and masks were not needed. Funny I think they changed their minds on that. Staying indoors is the worst thing to do.
Science told us to close the schools. A few people back in March said that was wrong and they were roundly harassed for that view. Isn't it funny they found out that kids were much safer in school?
Did science tell people to put infected people back in nursing homes as was done in NY,N, PA and other states to kill more old people?

Now who closes things down. Well it's not the science; they have no power. It's the politicians, you know the ones that close down dining yet they go to a fancy dinner with no social distancing or the ones that get their hair done when no one in the entire state is allowed that little luxury.

Please explain to me how the stockboy stocking shelves in Target where thousands of people go each day is safe yet the 50 people that go to a church with room for 500 are not safe?

So I've clearly missed the majority of this thread and skipped pages 8-20 but just wanted to dispel a post from the first page or two that stated "Hospitals are taking in more patients than normal to inflate the numbers."
So being very close to the hospital situation personally this is most def not true. My spouse has actually had some very hard stories about her hospital refusing or discharging patients way earlier than they normally would have because they are trying to keep capacity low to be ready for surge conditions. This is the way all hospitals are currently operating, their biggest fear is being 100%+ capacity. If you believe anything else I'm not sure what your reasoning could possibly be.

Also, remove politics from the situation. Why would you not get the vaccine?

Long term safety? I get it, cool, don't get the vaccine then. No big deal.

Another hypothetical, would you only get a vaccine for a deadly disease? If a vaccine were developed for the common cold, would you get it? I sure would.
