Thread: The evil eye
- 2 Weeks Ago #1
I d like to ask a question about your Countries culture on a certain matter.
In my country we have a superstition and in free transpation we can call it in English "The bad eye".
This means that for example when someone sees someone and he is jealous of him/her that they can give him/her the bad eye.
So when you get the bad eye you may have headache and/or feeling of weakness and/or bad luck.
In order to get away from the bad eye and feel OK again... a person has to speak a certain spell ( our church approves it and believe that the bad eye and the spell exist) and after some minutes you feel OK again.
An other superstition is that when something good is happening to you.... you should not tell anyone because with their jealously they will curse you somehow and this good thing that happened will be ruined.
Can you tell me if these 2 superstitions are also exist in your country?

In general most western countries have moved away from taking superstition at all serious .

In my country these 2 things still exist. Especialy on vilages.
Lets hear people from other countries what they have to say about it.

I will do some thinking on this but right off I know here in America if you are working on something or waiting for something good to happen if someone asks we might say "I don't want to talk about it because I might jinx it" I think it is more about worrying your good luck or fate might change if you shared the information.

Good one, Fizz. Another that comes to mind is, "Knock on wood".

Yes the knowck on wood we also have it in my Country.
In my case... whenever I have bragged to some people that something good is happening in my life.... it is ruined in some days for whatever reason.
I guess it must be bad energy or something. LoL.
When I never say anything to anyone... the joy and my plans continues without being ruined.
My cousin and an old friend of mine... whenever anyone were telling them that they met a girl... even if the girl was in love with them , in a matter of hours or days the girls were braking up with them LoL.
And the fun is that both of them were admitting that they had this bad power because they had observed it almost every time.

Evil-Eye Fleegle, an otherwise petty zoot-suited hood, apparently standing only four and a half feet tall and living in Brooklyn NY, has one unique ability which was taught to him by his mother.
When he concentrates a destructive beam shots from one of his eyeballs.
Called by him a “Whammy” it has three settings:
A single whammy can knock a dozen men unconscious for a day, a double whammy can make the stone head of Teddy Roosevelt on mount Rushmore weep, and the triple whammy can melt a battle ship.
Anything more powerful than a single whammy however tires out Fleegle for the rest of the day, or the rest of the week in the case of a triple.
The dreaded quadruple whammy, which only Fleegle’s mother can perform, is said to be to horrible to contemplate.

When someone looks at us in a weird way here, we call it the fish eye or the stank-eye, if it continues for no reason, it can turn into a black eye!
Going an inch and 1/2 deeper than before
Interesting. Long time...
** Possible solution (for some)......
