The natural growth no longer takes place from Boy to Man. Instead it seems boys grow up to be ... Boys, but with more hair in the places they don't want.

There is no Longer a sense of pride in having a good Job, and holding it.

No Longer do boys yearn to make anything of themselves other than like their Idols on Jersey Shores (Puke!!!)

No Longer is having a Wife and Kids something to look Foward to.

No Longer do boys become Men in general society, only aimless, frightened, generally worthless pitiful creatures whom truly don't know how to stick it out and fight for what they want in Life.

Not only do they lack direction, but also lack the tools in which to follow said direction if they found it.

Now... Society's fault? (movies, Facebook, TV) OR Parents fault?
-- I say both, with much more err lying with the parents letting television raise their children.

Don't have time to watch it right now but I think I guess I know what it's about so here's my thoughts: while our society is very babied and sensitive and afraid of hard work, I have a lot of faith and optimism in humanity as a whole so I think we'll be alright. This probably has to do with me being from Montana, people here are still pretty old fashioned and rugged in general

I take most TED talks with a grain of salt. He's got a good point, but the other side of the coin is tarnished too. The whole cinderella complex permeating the female population. Of course I haven't done my own research so have no data, but I would be hard pressed to believe pornography viewing hasn't gone up among girls either, nor video game usage.

Personally, I've simply come to the conclusion that I'm alone. No one else matters but me - now this doesn't mean I'm rude, or lack integrity in situations, simply that I don't allow myself to be abused because I'm trying to chase some sort of fantasy that doesn't exist. The house in the burbs, white picket fence, bowling on Tuesdays, with the little lady who stays home and takes care of the kids while you supply money from your job that will always be there simply doesn't exist and in the grand scheme only existed in a vacuum for which the consequences of that existence have been felt for generations.

Slow love making? I think most guys on here would chime in that a great many number of girlfriends have rape fantasies, gang bang fantasies - like to get "porno" banged now a days.

I understand what that guy is talking about, but again I'd have to counter with 'there aren't guys like that anymore in great quantity because there aren't girls like that anymore in great quantity' - Where are the chaste virgins, the caring motherly types, the partners in life? They don't exist - that role has been filled with "just experimenting" "I just want to date around" "I'm too independent" "be your own person" type women. So, I for one resoundingly say - OK. I feel like I'm in a vacuum. I don't necessarily want the house in the burbs (i want to live in the city and be able to walk everywhere, until i have kids) but i think love making, exploring her body and doing all kinds of intimate things, is far more fantastic than Face-Fucking my lady, even if she likes it.

Over the last 40 years boys have been told "Don't play with your penis, that's bad. Be nice to girls. Don't hit girls. Abstain from sex, look at all these bad things that can happen to you! If you have a baby your life will be over!"

Girls on the other hand have been told "Don't let anyone touch you, especially not boys. Don't let boys treat you wrong. Don't EVER LET a boy hit you. If you have a baby your life will be over - but you have the option for abortion which guys don't have."

Now, some of those things I agree with of course - but for me that's like sending two different people into battle and handing them each a sword. To the first person you say "Your sword is sharp and will cut, but you'll have to be good at using it in order to kill and even then you won't be able to kill but one person at a time. Good luck." To the second you say "Your sword is super special and can slay 10 men at once with a flick of your wrist! See you soon."

Out of the two who do you think is going to be more confident on the battle field? Sorry but Girls being reared have far more advantages than boys. As such you end up with the generations you have now.

You know... thinking about it...

is it the cart before the horse? Is it the women that like to get porno banged, or is it the guys that porno bang the women first and then that's all they know?

If a woman has limited experience, she'll see this as being the way sex goes.

IF women end up having sex with guys who learn everything they know from porn, they'll grow to only know getting fucked and thus those women won't know making love.

This is somewhat true too... Women are taught to believe they have the power and men are supposed to bow down because of what's between their legs.

Oh the Girls are no doubt struggling just like the Boys are, and are having their own sets of issues, which Boys can not deal with, and vice versa.

But honestly there has to be leader in this... Either boys need to decide they want to be Men, and let the girls follow. Or Girls need to stop expecting their future Husbands to act like girls, and accept that they are or will be Men.

This was pretty good. I agree with a lot of what Patrice says which basically boils down to MEN are the ones who ALWAYS have to change - WOMEN NEVER have to change who they are, what they like, how they act - in order to get men. I truly understand your sentiment. I personally know a guy who's wife, accused him of rape and inherited his thriving business by default. He went to the Pen for 10 years. She made millions. She then re-married, and tried it on her new Husband. But she got caught that time, and spent time in prison herself.

Im not saying women, aren't at fault as well. What I am saying is the healing process has to start SOMEWhERE... And I am a Man, so, all I can do is try and be positive and stern with the young men present in my own Life.
