  • I am a feminist.

    I am a feminist.

I stand for the equality of men and women.

I stand for my right, as a man, to not be oppressed by society.

I am a human being, not just a cog in the machine. I reject the term "man up," I believe that I'm allowed to feel vulnerable and scared, and I'm allowed to express that without shame.

I'm allowed to be loving, nurturing, and caring to everyone, including other men, without being labeled a "homo."

I am a feminist. I stand for my own freedom and full self-expression. I refuse to be placed into a neat little box; labeled, categorized, and assigned default characteristics that may or may not suit me.

I am a feminist. I stand for the freedom of all human beings.

I am making this courageous statement here because I know there is great misunderstanding as to what the word "feminist" means, especially for men. I am taking a stand for all men who are just trying to do "the right thing," but feel betrayed by society, or are betraying themselves, in doing so. I am here to tell you, you don't have to hide yourself anymore. If you don't like the role assigned to you by society, you don't have to try and fit yourself into it.

Free yourself. And then help free everyone else.

I am a feminist. I stand for the freedom of all human beings.

Early morning inspiration. It happens to me all the time. Sometimes between 4-6am, I'll wake up and feel the need to write my ideas down. These tend to be the most inspiring, defining thoughts of my life.

Also, I wanted to add (was going to edit, but didn't want to now that there was a reply):

I reject the idea that the only acceptable way for me to express my feelings of upset, sorrow, or frustration is through anger and violence.

          WOW!!!! Kudos, amazing post.

I was under the impression (and call me ignorant if you must) that to be a feminist you needed to be a woman....bet a lot of people thought this. As conservative as I am, I believe in making my own choices and God help the person(s) that tries to alter that. Sometimes we come to the wall and can't go any further,,,,someone tries to push us into the wall face first,,,,don't control me in any way shape or form. Years ago I had STRESS problems,,,,,,,back then stress wasn't recognized for being the killer that it is. I was told the proverbial "pull your socks up and go on with life." Bull Shi*!! I then vowed NEVER to let anyone do that to me (even if it was my fault for being weak). I'm not weak anymore and haven't been since 1990. I'm going down with the ship,,,,,,,,so I hope those coming along have life jackets!!!

Once again bully for you and thanks for the share!!!

Very inspirational Qarzan..truly it is. I am just confused as to why you are referring to yourself as a feminist?

Hey, I'm an equal rights supporter and male feminist too. As well as a strong beta, animal lover, empath, and metrosexual. I don't care much for society's rules on behavior or what is weak, strong, alpha, beta, or whatever. The only thing I care about is that people treat each other and animals with some respect and human decency. You don't have to like each other, just don't go around being shitty to others or kicking puppies. "Do unto other, and don't be a dick" as I always say.

And the interesting thing that happened to me once I let go of trying to carry on an alpha facade and just enjoyed the sweet and passionate side of myself as well as the strong side, is that women stopped calling me a "nice guy" and started wanting to know more about me. There's a lot to be said about truly knowing yourself and the "law of attraction", or how being wonderful and desiring nothing in return just seems to attract people to you.

The only thing I don't like about the whole feminism thing in American society today is that some women think that being a woman entitles them to above average treatment and privileges. And as far as I'm concerned there are no free handouts or guarantees that life will be peachy and you'll never have to deal with racism, sexism, ageism, any 'ism's or the like. The only thing equal rights, not just "feminism", can bring is opportunity to live, work, marry, and live the same lives others take for granted being no more or less better.

Camaro,,,,too late. We are already labelled. We have names, that is where it starts. We are tracked and followed by the Gov.

Everything we do is tracked by someone somehow. You called yourself a human being. That is a label in itself. BUT what we label ourselves is our choice...and how we view other is also our choice. We have the opportunity to act or comment on others for having those labels. We can crucify them or back them. So many ways to interpret this stuff. Sometimes the fact that we just "come out" is an epiphanny in itself. ;-)

So sorry to hear that Qar... I don't think you're a feminist, since you are I'm assuming a male in gender. Seems like a lot of men these days are feminist sympathizers though. Not me, I read a collection of works that pretty much changed my mind on the whole idea of feminism and what it is and why it's here. It explains how nature works for men and women. If you're interested i'll send you the link. It's a free downloadable PDF... Won't cost you a dime and might make you change your outlook on life a little bit.

Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women.
There are male feminists, or pro-feminism, its not only for the ladies to defend their rights. In fact, and in my opinion, a real man is a feminist.

A real man never hurts a woman. The woman came out of a man’s rib, not from his feet to be walked on, and not from his head to be superior, but from his side to be equal. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved. - Mrs. workin_4_it
