Just finished giving an ethics class to a large group of business professionals. While discussing law and regulation as means to support our individual and business ethics, I used a graphic of the multitude of regulations made by just one agency. My point being that as a pendulum swing, over regulation in response to prior unethical behaviour in a market has dimishing returns and can eventually handicap the market all together. One of the attendees illustrated the point by identifying how several of those regulations now disadvantage one set of consumers over another.

The crowd went wild.

I'm hopeful that people get it, that too much "too much" as a government response to problems is itself a problem. But it drives me crazy that you have to draw them pictures for people to get it.

Germany has created their own problem and problems for other EU states by stating that they would accept so many so-called refugees...800,000 by the end of this year! Gosh...I've never had that kind of welcome they're getting even in my own country. I'm seriously considering buggering off to Germany!
